Delighted to speak with fellow LOI heads @gerrytastic.bsky.social and @macdarabueller.bsky.social and journalist @valerieflynn.bsky.social about League of Ireland history. Really cool piece up now.

Very VERY long thread listing project after project. They all worked. They all had positive effects. Let people help themselves and they will, and will be happier and healthier for it.

The question remains why we still need 'pilot studies' and 'aren't sure about this'. Who benefits from poverty?

This is a genuinely mindblowing combination. 1) Deliberately false information, 2) promoted in schools, 3) using public money, 4) in the service of private profits, 5) at the cost of our collapsing ecosystem.

Senator Eileen Flynn says she has faced worst online abuse and hate yet in past week The Seanad member has been insulted and abused online for days in the wake of comments about the fuel protests.

‘Most of the abusive comments were posted on X (formerly Twitter) by users who routinely post anti-immigration content. Some right-wing influencer accounts abroad also picked up on Flynn’s comments’.

As well as being a technically and creatively superb writer, director, and producer of The Pitt, Noah Wyle has spent years supporting nurses and other healthcare workers' unions in their battle for better conditions.

He co-created The Pitt as a love letter to Covid first responders, and it shows.

Opinion: The protests aren't just about fuel, they're a revolt against a hollow state Citizens are told Ireland is rich, but their daily lives say otherwise, and last week’s protests were just a symptom of a deeper malaise, writes Sinéad O’Sullivan.

I agree - not least because the Minister’s statement announcing he had called the Army (reportedly brought forward to the Morning Ireland window from its original intended release) was simply not true at the time it was released

I’ll go one further, a lot of the protest leaders have confused their Facebook/TikTok feed with reality. They genuinely believe that there’s massive public support in Ireland for their protests purely based on the reaction their posts are getting on de social media…

There's a fine big pot of money sitting in a gofundme to feed the protesters. The Muslim Sisters of Éire and other homeless charities would make great use of it.

The Gist: A Denial Of Service Attack The fuel blockade demonstrated state fragility and inability. This is the Gist.

Let disabled people get married or even just move in with their partners without it affecting our disability allowance.

It wasn't means tested based on my parent's income when I lived with them, it shouldn't be means tested based on my partner's income. It sets me up for financial abuse.

Presumably there will be a package of reliefs for people who are out of pocket from booking hotels and transport and other costs to attend these ceremonies right?
And the protesters will support this because those are mostly working people right?

If you are holding a protest and the racists show up to join in and you do not immediately and loudly tell them to fuck off you're no longer at a protest, you're at a racist rally.

Racists brining the country to a standstill this week (under guise of fuel crisis) tried to intimidate one of the great charities in the country last night.

MSOÉ have been feeding the unhoused for 11 years on O Connell street.

Ugly scenes but beautiful show of solidarity from the people they feed.

Just worth saying, for absolutely legal clarity: the government does not have the legal prerogative to abolish carbon tax in its entirety. Carbon tax is a form of excise, and EU directives require excise on diesel to be a minimum of 33c per litre. (1/2)
