I would submit that a gerrymander by politicians saying fuck the voters and one by voters saying fuck the politicians are two wholly different animals

All the woodland animals have American accents and all the people have British accents. It’s a mess! (Great movie, though.)

I love *The Fantastic Mr. Fox*, but Eurasian badgers and opossums together??

Also *Snow White* is, judging by its fauna, set in the medieval kingdom of California.

Alligator Alcatraz phones were cut off. Then the beatings began, court docs say Attorneys say the Trump and DeSantis administrations are disregarding a court order requiring access to phones and attorneys for detainees.

April 2: guards cut all phone access in the housing units without warning. When detainees protested, CRS officers allegedly punched a man, threw another to the ground, kicked him in the head, and pinned him by the neck. A third detainee's wrist was broken. The entire cage was pepper-sprayed.

What prevents paleontologists who study early metazoans from going completely insane, like some sort of Junji Ito character?

We unfortunately have the highest ratio of Trump supporters, but also we’re the smallest generation.

Sometimes I think Gen X is so small it’s better absorbed into the surrounding generations: Baby Baby Boomers (who are Trumpier) and Eldest Millennials (less Trumpy). (But we have such a great name!)

Precambrian, even.

Might as well add koalas and tardigrades while you are at it.

Doctor Frankenstein technically isn’t a Doctor, because he abandoned his formal education midway to go off and be a weirdo.

Otters are the real water weasels, being closer to weasels than fishers and martens are (although not mink).

Interesting. And of course, from a geological perspective, it was once its own very distinct (and distant) continent. Arabia was part of Africa, and Europe was a huge archipelago (kind of like the Indonesian Archipelago today).

The concept of “Asia” itself is strange. Why carve Europe out as its own continent when it’s just one part of the same huge landmass?

If anything, Greater India has the best claim to being its own continent, but there is no name for Eurasia without India. (The name “Eurasia” itself is loaded.)

A screenshot of a Facebook post by CBS 2 Boise. The post text reads: "A new state law required the City of Boise to take down the Pride flag outside City Hall. Tuesday morning, the City wrapped flag poles in Pride colors and added a new sign to the window on City Hall. CBS2 reached out to the Mayor and Governor’s office for comment."
Below the text is a collage of three photos showing these updates:
Left: A tall metallic flagpole in a plaza at night, with its lower section wrapped in horizontal stripes matching the colors of the Progress Pride flag (black, brown, light blue, pink, white, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple).
Top Right: A closer view of a flagpole base, also wrapped in horizontal Progress Pride flag colors.
Bottom Right: A large window on City Hall featuring a graphic with diagonal stripes in the Progress Pride colors alongside the text, "Creating a city for everyone."

Oh, this is good. Idaho passed a bill banning local cities from flying the Pride flag. So the cities decided to wrap the poles themselves in pride colors.

This is amazing.

In a very real way, the President of the United States should be held to the highest standard of conduct in the whole country.

Somehow, he’s held to a lower (nonexistent) standard of conduct than literally everyone else. It’s unfathomable.

I always loved the way it was portrayed in *The Right Stuff*, which I assume is not too far from the mark.

Protoavis is also partly not a dinosaur, since some of the material appears to be drepanosaurid (maybe?). But the illustration is actually of “Proavis”, a hypothetical creature that never existed!
