Very sharp image of a nodule in the Trifid Nebula showing protuding narrow jets emerging from the rounded tips of the gas clouds.
Zoom in on a clump of a nebula showing a grainy, fuzzy thin line that has a white arrow annotated to it. This is the jet from the protostar. Image is fuzzy taken with my telescope
Ohhhhh ... love doing these.
Left: Hubble Telescope image of a nodule in the Trifid Nebula. That's a thin stellar jet from young stellar object buried in the cloud
Right: same, but from my backyard telescope. Can just see jet!

Sorry for a (partly) repeat posting but I caught #messier82 the other night with necessary Ha data from my LENH filter, so decided to revisit nearby #messier81 and take some Ha data to reprocess into my earlier image posted last week - well they ARE a matched pair!! #astrophotography π
Markarianβs Chain, 50 million light years away is an alignment of galaxies in the Virgo cluster, which is a cluster of over 1,300 galaxies. Captured using my Apertura CarbonStar 8" Ritchey-Chretien telescope from my backyard. #astrophotography

The 8% lit crescent Moon in a blue sky just after sunset on 19 April 2026. Just below the Moon is the Pleiades open cluster. Lower than the pair and just above a rooftop is the bright planet Venus. Shot taken with a Canon 600D and 300mm lens at 0.6s, 75mm fl, f/5.6, ISO-1600.
The 8% lit #Moon last night sitting just above the Pleiades open cluster and bright Venus lower down. Beautiful sight in the early evening π #Astronomy #Astrophotography

After the Dwarf Stellar Studio.
After I have run this through Snapseed, Lightleap and Photoshop Lite. All free mobile apps.
If you're interested, image 1 is what the output looks like straight out of the Dwarf app after its in-house processing has been run. Image 2 is after I have run my own processing. Note, no new or false colours added, just drawn out from the original data. #astronomy #astrophotography

The Elephant's Trunk Nebula (specifically designated IC 1396A) is a dense pillar of interstellar gas and dust. It is located within the much larger IC 1396 emission nebula complex in the constellation Cepheus, roughly 2,400 light-years away. The trunk itself is about 20 light-years long. The surrounding region spans over 100 light-years in diameter.
The Elephant Trunk Nebula. A bit noisy but not bad for 45 minutes worth before daylight arrived this morning. All that interstellar gas and dust! Captured by the Dwarf3 scope.

Veil Nebula
Crop of the Eastern Veil
Crop of the Western Veil
At some point I'm just going to have to accept that the full Veil Nebula just doesn't get high enough above the horizon for me to get it before dawn. Happy with the Eastern, but can never get enough data of the Western side so always looks choppy.
