You can get fancy if you want! Like if you have a preference for how to avoid gaps/strengthen the area at the join. But it doesn’t look like this pattern includes anything like that.
If you search “knitting underarm cast on” it should get you the right tutorials.
So you cast on those extra stitches, join in the round by picking up the next side and kitting. On your next round, you knit those cast on stitches like normal. They just become part of the circle/round. Does that help?

You have to click the hashtag in an already existing post. You can’t search it unless someone makes a feed for the hashtag. For example the person who runs #showmeyourknits made a feed for it so when you search the hashtag, you find that feed and follow it.
