Epidemiological research without action is just counting oppression. I will die on this hill.

Do not normalize children dying from measles. Measles was previously eliminated in the US, thanks to vaccines.

When children die from measles, it means that adults have catastrophically failed to protect them because they have rejected basic science.

I’ve watched Adolescence twice now. Completely gutted both times. So real, so powerful. I have a few critiques but can’t remember the last time a show hit me so hard. I’m definitely not alone in this feeling.

“The best clinicians I know are the ones who figure out how to use their own lived experiences to connect with the people they work with. The ones who understand that we aren’t just applying techniques—we’re engaging in relationships.” 👇🏽

"Whisk away" makes it sound as if she's on her way to Disneyland for a surprise vacation. No, #BrokenPost, she was abducted, kidnapped by masked agents.

These stories are always troubling and staff need to be protected at all costs. There is good evidence on implementing relational security practices to help reduce instances of violence, rather than a focus on physical and procedural security. It’s worth being part of these discussions.

being an indie bookseller in the helltimes has felt both very stable and very stabilizing, and part of me wishes everyone could be on my side of the counter for a little while, because I think it would help some of you be a little less cynical and doomy right now. so here is my VERY anecdotal data:

If only we had a way of helping to prevent this.

I just saw a post on Reddit from someone upset that there were people using drugs the Scotiabank ATM at Somerset and Bronson.

The Somerset West Community Health Centre just closed its supervised consumption site on Friday, after being forced to by the Ford government.

Decisions have consequences.

As I said earlier this week, when we send police to people who are vulnerable & in mental heath crisis, we're making that person more vulnerable to experiencing a range of harms including death.

Tragically, 2 people died in Halifax this week during police interactions.

I’ve enjoyed their last few for sure! I relate to their songs about parenting and mid-life exhaustion.

A few I’d add: Apologies to the Queen Mary, The Life Pursuit, Let’s Get Out This Country, It Still Moves, Five Roses. The later aughts are a bit of a dead zone for me too.

Sound of Silver is amazing but I agree with you here. Never really got into their full albums. All My Friends I could listen to on repeat.

You Follow Me (Nina Nastasia & Jim White) is a standout for me. I like all the ones you name, too.

I saw Jens Lekman in Toronto in 2007 on a snowy winter night and he took the show outside. Was magical. What a year!

I am almost relieved that this happened in front of cameras for the whole world to witness. No more backrooms, no more facades of reasonableness or bargaining. We now know what side the United States is on, and in whose interests they’re acting. It isn’t their people’s, and it isn’t ours
