Nine hours in the field yielded 77 species on the Severnside patch. Highlights included a Sandwich Tern powering up the Severn estuary into a stiff north easterly, migrating Merlin and Grey Plover and a fabulous Greenland Wheatear at Aust. Swifts & Swallows also on the move #avonbirding #ukbirding

Right time, right place - so thrilled to get these heavily cropped shots of a pair of Kestrels. Don’t think he looks too impressed that she’s not sharing! @severnsidebirds.bsky.social @andy-1963.bsky.social #southglosbirds #bristolbirding

A juvenile was seen over the salt marsh at Severn Beach around 09:55 on March 18th. It was watched by two lucky observers and was seen to leave the salt marsh being mobbed by corvids and Common Buzzard drifting east over Severn Beach station and Orchard Pools.

It is believed to have been the relocating individual from Gigrin Farm, Powys where it had been wintering from October 26th 2009 until at least March 14th 2010.
