It has been a long time since Christendom had more than guards with fancy pants and security professionals but the global Church still counts for a lot. I would rather see it use what power it has to call out bad behavior than remain complicit. Still not going back though.
Yeah, the history of the church and why kings and queens felt rightfully like the Pope had too much power across borders through their population is the basis for 90% of my politics and war background in stories. Nobody did that shit harder than the than the church.

Durango goes for the throat right away to drag raptor away and teach him a lesson.

If you are going to demand "papers" as a matter of course for required actions and proof of citizenship then the cost of those papers and associated documentation must be free. Otherwise it is a poll tax or interference with in-country travel which is not constitutional AND discriminatory.
And this is the adtl problem with proposed voting ID restrictions. It is bad enough that it takes multiple documents (and fees) to get your Real ID (travel restriction across states) but then you add passport fees. It can cost THOUSANDS and days off work just to obtain a birth certificate.

Not a fussy crème brûlée fan but this one was salted caramel (which I love) so gave it a shot. Pretty good but still like this dish simple with berries instead.

Our little guy is now strong enough and big enough to jump on the counter!
