Actor-author George Takei turns 89 today...
Takei brought enjoyment to so many thru his performances in Perry Mason, Black Sheep Squadron, the iconic Star Trek TOS/movies...
An American patriot, he & his family endured racially motivated internment camps of the 1940s...
Live longer, Mr. Takei!
The Infowars news is funny, yes. But more importantly, it is an outright rebuke of Alex Jones' evil.
It's testament to the strength and resilience of the Sandy Hook families who survived this bullshit for more than a decade as well as the Onion, which didn't give up on this for the last 18 months.
For the record, for anyone who’s forgotten, it’s sheer madness for a president to contradict himself nearly every day. It’s profoundly wrong that we can’t trust the veracity of a single thing that he says.
Infowars/Onion combo logo in rainbow saying “I support the onion’s hostile media takeover.”
It’s finally happened. After 18 months. Finally, a media merger you can root for.
The Onion has reached a deal to acquire Infowars
• It will be turned into a parody site of itself
• Has the support of the Sandy Hook families

IMHO, the best Dire Straits studio album. One of the 1st rock LP recorded entirely digitally and also one of the 1st major big-sellers on Compact Disc. I remember listening to it on CD in the mid-80s, at the peak of MTV. Sounded amazing. Money for Nothing. So Far Away. Title Track. Classic Knopfler.

This Day In History
April 20, 1999: Two teenage gunmen kill 13 people in a shooting spree at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado.
Or, as NRA-purchased Congressional Republicans would respond today, "I'm sorry... I haven't heard anything about this event."

mRNA vaccines continue to show major promise.
In a small Phase 1 trial led by Dr. Balachandran, some patients with pancreatic cancer (one of the deadliest cancers) reached 6-year survival.
This is why sustained investment in science & research matters.

A humanoid robot named Lightning won a half-marathon for robots (and humans) on Sunday in Beijing, finishing faster than any person in history.
A tweet from Pope Leo XIV that reads: “When simulation becomes the norm, it weakens the human capacity for discernment. As a result, our social bonds close in upon themselves, forming self-referential circuits that no longer expose us to reality. We thus come to live within bubbles, impermeable to one another. Feeling threatened by anyone who is different, we grow unaccustomed to encounter and dialogue. In this way, polarization, conflict, fear and violence spread. What is at stake is not merely the risk of error, but a transformation in our very relationship with truth.”
Apparently the Pope has read Baudrillard.

The post reads: “This is what I told Reuters today: The UAE no longer needs America to defend it, as it has proven during the Iranian aggression that it is capable of defending itself with distinction. What the UAE needs is to acquire only the best and latest weapons that America has. Therefore, it is time to think about closing the American bases, as they are a burden and not a strategic asset.” The post is labeled “Translated from Arabic by Grok” and shows a timestamp of 10:21 AM · 4/19/26 with 139K views.
NEW: UAE scholar Abdulkhaleq Abdulla says the UAE no longer needs U.S. protection, calling American bases a “burden, not a strategic asset” and suggesting they should be closed. The United States’ standing in the region has been obliterated.
Amazing! This is the line to get into Peter Buttigieg’s town hall in Tulsa tonight.

55 yrs ago this week, 4/17/71, all 4 former Beatles had solo singles in the UK charts:
Paul McCartney: "Another Day,"
Ringo Starr: "It Don’t Come Easy"
John Lennon: "Power To The People"
George Harrison: "My Sweet Lord"
All 4 songs still sound great, 55 yrs later.
Play 'em loud.
