🐶 Who let the dogs out… into the #ICU?
We surveyed 63 ICUs across Australia & New Zealand and found:
✔️ 44% offer/ed animal-assisted services with dogs 🐕
🚫 Barriers: infection control, staffing, funding

The systematic review and meta-analysis highlights a key gap:
📉 Current evidence is limited and of low quality.
To truly guide ICU nutrition practices, we need bigger, high-quality RCTs, which may help provide much-needed answers to address physiological intermittent postural feeding
Having a stable critical care team with minimal staff turnover should be a very high priority for every manager
Otherwise, it will have consequences for the patients

Everyone’s hyping intermittent feeding—but what about ICU patients? 🛏️
Our meta-analysis shows the evidence is weak.

Better RCTs like ICU FM below - are needed! 📉

I was skeptical about percutaneous mechanical aspiration for tricuspid valve endocarditis, but it apparently can work.
Look at this picture of a vegetation that was fished out of a patient I was involved with. Only after removal was he able to achieve negative blood cultures.👇 #EMIMCC

A major take home from ADAPT-SEPSIS - docs aren’t as good at stopping antibiotics as we think we are… #ccrdownunder
Our conclusion after 6 years working across the healthcare system #safety
Post #ICU discharge follow-up, including pivotal! Women should be screened for psychological trauma, long-term follow-up, physical, mental, QoL, outcomes assessment to optimize health/wellbeing.

Could it be #sepsis? Identify sepsis and act quickly with timely resuscitation, cultures and IV antibiotics #WorldSepsisDay
