Currently it’s come down to this, from five moths, C. Drab, H. Character, C. Plume, DS Pug and two Stenophylax permistus caddisflies this morning, the only highlight? was a nfy White-shouldered Moth.

To cold, wet and windy to bother with the trap last night so I’ll have to make do with this Golden-rod Pug, found in the garden, my first of the year.

Probably the Slime mould, False Puffball - Reticularia lycoperdon
Chilly last night and I had just three Hebrew Characters to show for it. This male Dark-edged Bee-fly is in the garden making the most of today’s sunshine.

A few from my north wales garden today. Streamer was this morning’s best moth. The Wood Mouse was found in the greenhouse, inside a bag of garden waste and the harvestman Dicranopalpus ramosus agg. was on the garage wall.

Double left, Brindled right
The Double-striped is actually Brindled Pug
I’ll stick my neck out and suggest Garden Carpet
Very few moths this morning, but this Gooden’s Nomad Bee Nomada goodeniana, a rarely recorded species in my north wales garden brightened up the afternoon.

I kept it in an old yogurt pot with lid on and a piece of damp kitchen paper wrapped around the stalk and it emerged surprisingly quickly. It was probably more luck than judgement.
Possibly/probably Acleris cristana
Epermenia chaerophyllella Common Ridge-back, I frequently find larva in the summer on Hogweed but I’d never seen an adult until this morning, when one turned up in the garden.

The only highlight this week was my second ever Engrailed, amongst the supporting cast was this Early Thorn and a fresh and well marked Double-striped Pug, a moth that’s probably under appreciated due to being common.

After many years of searching I’m yet to find a spiked gall in my area of north wales, so would this suggest that only D. eglanteriae is present or is the forming of the spike more related perhaps to local conditions such as habitat type, geography etc.
Brindled Pug was nfy last night, the only other moth of note was this nicely marked Clouded Drab.

Watkins and Doncaster appear to have stock
The only nfy this morning was Depressaria daucella Water-drop wort Brown an annual moth in this garden and one whose larva are easily found in summer on the food plant.

Possibly Psychoda sigma
I think the first moth is a Brindled Beauty
Just a few moths on a chilly Friday night, C. Quaker, S. Quaker, Early Grey and Chestnut. At least eight Green Shield Bugs were enjoying the sun this afternoon in the garden.

Dark Chestnut would have been logged if it turned up in my trap.
Only 5/4 last night, 2 Grey Shoulder-knot, LB Apple, Spring Harbinger and the highlight, my second ever Oak Nycteoline.
#teammoth
Light Brown Apple Moth would be my initial choice, if you rule that out then who knows.
Last night, P B Beauty x2, March Moth, Spring Usher, LB Apple and two T alternella, Spring Harbinger, only my 2nd and 3rd record. On a window near the trap was a mating pair of Obscure Mompha, M. jurassicella, my third and fourth this year having never previously recorded any.
#teammoth
Second attempt this year, first moth, a single Pale Brindled Beauty.

Found in the house while making dinner, I believe it’s Mompha jurassicella, Obscure Mompha, which would be a lifer for me, appears to be uncommon in North Wales.

Is it not Great Black-backed Gull
Are you sure this is a Winter Moth
and not a Mottled Umber?
Took a gamble last night as it was clear and chilly, got three species, Winter, Light Brown Apple and this Satellite.
#teammoth
8/5 for me last night, better than expected, December, Mottled Umber, Winter, Light Brown Apple and surprisingly a fresh looking and latest ever Rusty Dot Pearl which wasn’t hanging around for a photo,so here’s the December Moth instead.
