Really nice to meet @swaystevek.bsky.social for a pint last night and a trip round the NF looking for Sloe Carpet with @birdertom.bsky.social The cold clear skies did for us, but there’s other sites to see this week. I’m amazed how little blackthorn is present in the centre of the NF #teammoth

Almost didn't trap last night in view of the forecast, but am in Devon so ran a token actinic. Glad I did, as 15:6 with 3 NFY in Great Prominent, Brindled Beauty (x6) and Muslin Moth. Clearly a fur coat was needed given the frost. Hopefully bodes well for the next few nights... #TeamMoth

I thought that this early Footman sp - Eilema sp would have to be Eilema caniola! - the common species in this part of Andalucia? But with a closer look I could see the wings were too dark grey and the orange colour was too orange and extended behind the head and along the costa? - Surely this was Scarce Footman - Eilema complana? (But it isn't supposed to be anywhere near this SW corner of Spain according to the maps I have access to?) Can someone please confirm my ID? - i have never got on well with Footmen! - moth-trapping at Bolonia, near Tarifa, Cadiz Province, Andalucia, Spain on the 31st of March 2026.

Sharp-winged Drill moth

Hi. I'm Sharp-winged Drill moth. I don't know why they call me that, I sound like a monster. I prefer Common Daisy Moth. I like daisies. Oh and tansies! I'm not from around here. Do you know any nice flower beds? Want to show me around?

An afternoon/evening at Mill Hill LNR with @alandcs.bsky.social was disappointing for moths, with just 7:6. That said, we scored the target Barred Tooth-striped as we packed up 😅. Also Gracillaria syringella and Powdered Quaker NFY, while finally got proof that the Emperor lure works! #TeamMoth

A couple of pairs of Greylags and a Redwing over, singing Cetti’s Warbler and calling Pheasant were the avian highlights.
