Dark Sword-grass (Agrotis ipsilon)

Lydd on Sea VC15, a cool breezy night by the sea, gave 9 of 5sp.

Was pleased to find the first Swallow Prominent of the year on the wall by the trap , plus the first Dark Sword-grass of the year in the trap, and the first Xylostella in the trap as well
(No photo though).

Brindled Beauty (Lycia hirtaria). 1 of 14 in and around the trap this morning.

An outrageous (well, for me & a 20w actinic) 14 Brindled Beauty in and around the trap this morning. Also, a male St Mark's Fly (Bibio marci) was new to the 'intruders' list.

Came across this small moth recently at Lydden Spout near Dover .I think that it could be Eriopsela Quadrata the Four Spot Belle ,which I believe is a Goldenrod feeder......Happy to be corrected ! #teammoth #mothsmatter #ukmoths

Our team took advantage of the milder temperatures last night, with trapping sessions at Jubilee Pasture in Bugthorpe and Hagg Wood in Dunnington.

These under-recorded sites yielded a promising variety including these two Beauties #mothsmatter

Blossom Underwing

Blossom Underwing

I have not got the ‘moth plank’ out for ages…

So my first Blossom Underwing which was new for the year was justified.

I usually just about scrape one every other year in the Littlestone garden (SE Kent)

A really nice moth trap catch overnight in #Norwich. The highlight for me was this beautiful Lunar Marbled Brown (Drymonia ruficornis). Just the sixth garden record (one in '20, four in '24).

Oak-tree Pug (Eupithecia dodoneata) was another "new for year" species in my #Norwich moth trap this morning. The run of Frosted Green (Polyploca ridens) continues, a lovely fresh but dark individual showing variation with its counterpart. #teammoth #norfolkmoths #mothsmatter #bugsky

Brindled Pug (upithecia abbreviata). Many people are dismissive or down on pugs. They can be tricky to id, especially when worn. But I rather like them. Perhaps that's the birder in me, always trying to pick out the "wheat from the chaff". This individual is very fresh with intricate patterning & colours, a very easy id and a most welcome visitor. I think I enjoyed it more than the more scare A.literana.

Chuffed to find Acleris literana (Lichen Tortrix) on the moth trap this am, the 2nd garden record. A worn, shabby individual, but you can see why it has it's colloquial name. Brindled Pug (upithecia abbreviata) also "new for year" - my thoughts in ALT. #teammoth #mothsmatter #bugsky #norfolkmoths
