the lesson from today’s downtime isn’t that it was caused by vibe coding (bluesky went down all the time before Claude too), it’s that if you use AI you will no longer get the benefit of the doubt and everyone will mock you for laziness regardless of the cause

also the ability to search bookmarks / bookmark folders. i feel the ability to navigate posts you've *already* interacted with is lacking, currently

i consume so much content every day it's truly difficult to keep track of it all. this might be a sign i need to cut back again

I feel Nintendo/Miyamoto/Movie Writers kind of missed the point of Peach and Rosalina's relationship in the games, or rather the lack of one. In a series of Definite Answers and This is What Happened(s), the relationship of those two is the ONE time that they keep it up to interpretation, and it fits the theme and vibes of Galaxy. Making them sisters in a literal sense is such a copout, narratively. Forced, in a way. At the end of Princess Peach: Showtime, Peach uses powers quite similar to Rosalina (and wears a dress that is similar to hers.) I liked that small level of connection because there was an implication of "okay, Peach and Rosa have this intuit to magic knowledge. They act on it differently but they might have the same source." The RPGs show that Peach has some intricate knowledge of magic outside of stuff like floating and healing abilities.

Which is why the "We are both made from stardust" line from the movie is SO GOOD. ITS LIKE. COSMICALLY VAGUE AND FITTING FOR ROSA ESPECIALLY TO UNDERSTAND HERSELF AND PEACH IN THIS WAY. AND IT ADDS TO THE IDEA THAT MARIO GALAXY DOES, WHERE TIME IS CYCLICAL! but they just had to dumb it down to "Peach is my Sister" in a LITERAL sense to make it.... easier to understand narratively? I guess? that's the only reason I can even guess for that to be the case not everything HAS to be simple. That's what destroys me about this movie. its a 70% from a student you know can give you an A+ and then some, because *everyone involved* knows how to write good stories!!! but the student just... gave up. we could have had so much better. fight scenes and platforming stuff was amazing. soundtrack was beautiful. i liked the jokes. fox felt weird at first, but became more natural later. but they just didn't apply much feedback from the first one. didn't expand on existing ideas much (e.g SMB2 bosses)

very much underutilized rosalina. she's barely in the movie, compared to how impactful she is talked about *even in the movie.* "most powerful princess in the universe." didn't do much with the ACTUAL parts from galaxy, aside from name drops it doesn't feel like a corp meddling thing. it felt like they clamped the story to be simple, and kept at the breakneck pace for the same reason. someone said it felt almost like a Mario 40th commercial. i kinda feel that way, just in a less angry way and more a sad one. Maybe this is what Miyamoto wanted. And that's disappointing. I just wanted more, I guess. But it was a fine movie overall. 7.5/10. Slightly better than the first movie. I enjoyed it more on its face, but for every step forward it took, it messed up worse in other places.

despite the sad expression, i did have a lot of fun with the movie. here are some spoiler thoughts i had from 5 days ago, my opinion has mellowed out a bit more since.

also the soundtrack and fights were amazing
