Quick and Meaningless Data Collection Help me collect some data to use for student examples! The questions on geographic region and gender will only be used for subsetting the data, not for student analysis. No questions are required -…

I NEED HELP!

Please take this quick, meaningless 19 question survey so I can get data for my students to learn stats!

I did a similar version a few months ago but missed an important question type. Even if you did the old one, please do it again!

Please circulate widely!

I know you have to go out there and push the product, but man, Kevin Feige saying with his whole entire baseball cap 'Well NEXT year's movie is going to be the one you really want to go see!' as basically Marvel's entire art department gets laid off is an astoundingly shitty look.

Very good piece.

A very, very late recommendation, but if you’re in/near Bristol then today is the last day of the Cosmos exhibition at RWA.

Why Targets (1968) Is Worth Your Time
Why Targets (1968) Is Worth Your Time YouTube video by Why It's Worth Your Time

I made a really short video about one of my favourite movies, why it's worth your time, and why I think this Boris Karloff thriller kicked off the 70s New Hollywood era.

The Long Neolithic is a fever. It infects all of us stone botherers – whether we are archaeologists or lithic pilgrims. None are free of its symptoms. The call to visit, that palpable feeling ongoing ceremony when you walk into a stone circle. – Dr. K. Brophy #StandingStoneSunday

Hey everyone, quick PSA:

We can enjoy the delicious schadenfreude of Caitlyn Jenner being reminded that she's a trans person when what's been done to every other trans person suddenly gets applied to her in the smallest way

AND

Not turn into gross assholes that deadname or misgender her ✌️

Just FYI, there is a tiny indie bookshop in Afflecks Palace in MCR that ONLY sells fantasy (and a tiny bit of horror). Not even SF. Bugbear Books - check them out if you're in the area. I was very well behaved because I was already broke but I got a copy of The Fox Wife which looks great.
Pls share?

As so many of us have said so often for a year now, any predatory man already ignoring laws forbidding assault isn't going to obey a 'bathroom ban'. Making life harder for trans people and many others with restrictions which will be impossible to enforce will do nothing to make any women safer.

Empire Records! The great lost Quantum Leap episode! The night manager at a record store discovers plans to franchise them out (It's a period piece at this point), gambles everything in the safe to save the store, loses, and then finds out that was NOT THE PLAN. Angst and '90s indie rock ensue.

It's the Empire Records of chef movies. It's a mess. There are entire characters completely excised and what seems to be an Alicia Vikander centric plot that's reduced to two scenes and a cup of coffee. But like Empire Records it's fragmentary and brilliant. Oh let's throw that on the list too!

Burnt. The best work Bradley Cooper's done by some distance. Sold as a 'LOOK AT THIS ASSHOLE ROCKSTAR CHEF!' movie. Actually a 'Look at this ASSHOLE rockstar chef and what he does when he finally realises he's an asshole.'

Every now and then I think of that woman a friend knew from a ferret owner’s group who said that her ferret loved it when she blew raspberries on his bellybutton, only to discover that wasn’t a bellybutton and that he *really* enjoyed it

On top of reasons of role deconstruction and bodily autonomy, this is one reason why it's so important to many people in power to eradicate trans folk.

If you're secure with yourself, feeling good BEING yourself, they can't tell you you're broken and then sell you a "fix"
