The Music Gods of the Internet will judge me for this, but it's 2026 and I feel like admitting I do enjoy stomp-clap-hey tunes.

Two book cover. One with Yellow Submarine-like illustration of a circus manager and an elephant, and another cover of a board book with a duck carrying a question mark.

Every time I visit Tallinn I go to the same antique book store and look for Soviet era kid's books. This time I found this farm animals board book with incredible textures from 1966, and this 1985 circus-themed story book with some Yellow Submarine-like stylizations.

A full weekend of moving houses. Planning not to move for the next 20 years, thank you very much.

One thing I've enjoyed a lot in 2025 is rediscovering how much I enjoy music - going back to bands from my teen years, finding new acts, going to gigs, keeping up with releases. Being open to new genres and performers has been such an energy boost!

Folktale Week 2025 is over and it was a good way to get back into doing some illustration work after a slow period.

Here are the illustrations for the first four days: Night, Echo, Rain and Book.

Illustration of an anthromorphic moon and an anthromorphic sun, each sitting on a cloud and smiling at each other. There is a bat hanging off of the moon's cloud, falling asleep, and a European robin flying next to the sun.

I had a dream that a crow-man told me "you software skills are okay, now you need to focus on your artistry". And I'm not sure if I should listen to that specter of anxiety, or totally ignore it ๐Ÿ˜†

I find Colossal's work really interesting. At the same time, I feel that their public outreach is led by PR stunts, which puts the accuracy of the science communication in the background, and that really bothers me.

There are probably some good historical and media articles and books written on these topics out there that I'd be interested to check. If the science community has any recommendations, do share.

Also, I've been really impressed by the level at which theatricality had an influence during the French Revolution (and Reign of Terror).

And I feel like there's a certain level at which the spectacle and reality TV are playing a role right now. Case in point: yesterday's performance.

I've listened to several interviews with the author and it seemed like a good and useful read. Now I ordered it from the library, and will read it when it arrives.

It's shameful that the USA doesn't understanding how much it gets from having security deals, cultural impact, and diplomatic alliances. Never before have I seen so many of my friends here in Europe talking about boycotting USA products.

"America first" is quickly becoming "America alone".

I've seen a few posts about the sizes that work well for the new Instagram grid, and while I do think they are useful in their own right, I strongly urge you to make art in whatever format and size you want. Social media shouldn't dictate how you create.

Also, regarding the 'contact someone' part - is it time to make address books a thing again?

1 year ago 4 0 0 0

Uninstalled Instagram for the time being from my phone. The 'Ad break' functionality is realky grinding my gears (plus, you know, the whole Meta political pirouette doesn't make it feel nicer).

If I need to use it for work or to contact someone, web interface feels less intrusive.

My grandparents had all the episodes of Walking with Dinosaurs (dubbed in Bulgarian) recorded on a VHS tape for me, and I played that thing constantly on repeat as a kid whenever I visited them.

Needless to say โ€“ I'm so incredibly excited to see this new release!!
