The Commission has infringement procedures open against several EU countries for failing to tackle bycatch.

- Govts have plans to reduce this threat
- Data is collected
- Laws are enforced

Every year, 30-40,000 birds are caught in fishing gear and discarded into the ocean.

We think that French authorities failed to monitor and protect them - breaching multiple EU laws, like the Birds and Habitats Directives.

Coca-Cola already made commitments to change its advertising practices around plastic bottles as a result of the complaint in 2025. Danone is yet to make any similar commitments. 3/4

The complaint flagged #greenwashing practices used on plastic water bottles by Coca-Cola, Nestlé & Danone.

It highlighted that claims like "100% recyclable" & "100% recycled" were misleading, portraying recycling as a complete solution to plastic pollution, when in reality it can never be. 2/4

Removing it would allow products linked to deforestation into the EU market.

In our complaint, we argue that:
▪️ Failure to disclose the Commission's decisions violates our right to access information under EU law
▪️ The Commission must disclose the documents as soon as possible

Projects, if designated as “strategic," could reshape landscapes and livelihoods. That's why the reasons for these decisions and the envi impacts must be made public.

An example is a lithium mine project planned in Portugal. The Commission declared it “strategic”. We're challenging this in court.

Decisions that will impact everyone's health should not be taken without citizens' knowledge: we call on policymakers to comply with the ruling and make transparency the default.

The Commission refused to give us access to key documents on how they decided, together with Member States reps, to approve a toxic chemical in pesticides.

So we took them to court - and they confirmed that such opacity is unlawful.
