Yesterday, U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan addressed the Alaska legislature in joint session. After his speech, he took questions, but there wasn't time for mine. The video shows what I would have asked. #akleg #alaska

My name is Mary Peltola, and I'm running for U.S. Senate to fight for fish, family, and freedom – and that begins with fixing the rigged system in DC that’s shutting down Alaska.

We need systemic change if we're going to lower costs, save our fisheries, and fill our homes with abundance again.

Ma’am, I need serious help. Believe me.

Perhaps you can attend an event and make a more compelling video using skills from TikTok? That would be a great way to help.

Oh I apologize: the video is very weird. I did the best I could. I apologize for my lack of IT talent. The Alaska Dems didn’t find me. I did this myself. I am so sorry.

Tonight I introduced Matt Schultz at his 1st official campaign event for US Congress. Rev. Schultz has been advocating for all those with less in Alaska since 1997, & he's the leader we need in DC. Let's eliminate poverty & make healthcare affordable. mattschultzforalaska.com

I’ve known Rev. Matt Schultz for ~8 years & feel extremely confident that he’s the real deal. Authentic, good to his word, deeply compassionate & empathetic in the way that means he’s also brave about standing up to bullies, standing firmly FOR things that help us & firmly against harmful policies.

Reporters at the Carpenter Media Group-owned papers in Kenai have resigned: “Though this decision is extremely painful for all of us, it is not difficult. We cannot do our jobs knowing that pressure from an elected official can mean our stories are edited without prior consultation with us.”

I mean for the record, I have communicated with Vance about this

I have a more pessimistic view of the strength of our small town papers. I don’t think they can withstand a boycott of any kind

Vance didn’t know she got the story changed. She thought she got it taken down.

Thank you. If you punish our local newspapers for every mistake they make, totalitarians win: we need local journalism. They reposted the article — yes with some edits, but it’s more important that they stay in business.

Alaska’s local journalism needs our support. Opponents of 🇺🇸 democracy know that our boots-on-the-ground reporters are the most trusted news sources, so they work overtime to discredit them.
