Almost everything we argue about is a substitute for the thing we should be arguing about: the immense wealth & power of an oligarchic class, which captures governments, ruins lives and wrecks the living planet.
This class redirects our rage at scapegoats. To resist its lies is to resist its power.

Anyone else think journalists are more interested in the Mandelson vetting problem than the rest of us?

Parliamentary soap opera.

It merits some coverage but there are FAR more important issues deserving this level of attention.

Israelis are marching in Jerusalem tonight.

Not Palestinians. Israelis.

One protester:

"Settlers attacked children and women in a Palestinian village. The IDF came and arrested the Palestinians that were attacked."

"This is not democracy. This is not justice. This government is the root source

Boris Johnson didn't pass vetting when Theresa May appointed him Foreign Secretary.

The media must have missed that one.

Yesterday we had a journalist post on Threads to say the press doesn't like Labour and holds Labour to higher standards than other parties.

It confirms what we all knew and see every day.

But shocking that someone in the media bubble actually said it out loud!

For those who don't know this story, which I first shared six years ago today....

This one time I got my days wrong at work and ended up alone in a room with my boss and the President of Ireland while I was on ketamine.

Stewart Lee: A weak parent who couldn’t report their child to the police? Sounds like Queen Elizabeth II A mood seems to be growing on the right of politics to deport the relatives of serious criminals. But of course they don’t mean in every case

Stewart Lee's latest for @thenerve.news is "very much a game of two halves, Ron" starting with the very reasonable question as to why the late Queen shouldn't be expunged for protecting her pdf-file adjacent son - then segueing into a piece about obscure wildlife ⬇️ www.thenerve.news/p/stewart-le...

GB News headline: GP who asked Muslim woman to remove her veil 'because he was struggling to understand her' is struck off.

Was this GP struck off just because he asked a Muslim woman to remove her veil?

How likely does that sound? 🤷‍♀️

Did he actually ask her to remove her veil 'because he was struggling to understand her?'

Let's take a look at what really happened based on the tribunal reports...

Vatican confirms pope will not visit U.S. in 2026 - Catholic Review The Vatican press office confirmed that Pope Leo XIV has no plans to visit the U.S. this year.

The Pope has decided that there are better moral choices than attending a celebration of the government of Donald Trump. The King of Britain and Canada needs to do the same before the wanabee King of greater USA patronises and threatens our proud nation again.

You realise if you let Trump get away with it, that he will be the new standard

You understand that, right?

Having no consequences for the lies, corruption, boorishness, depravity and unabashed criminality won't just end when this bloated, diseased bubble finally pops.

He must be held accountable

A man with a thick dark beard and closely cropped hair stands in a hospital corridor, dressed in loose white biblical-style robes. A deep red head covering drapes over his shoulders, framing his face. A glowing golden halo hovers behind his head, softly illuminating him. The background shows a clean, modern hospital hallway with doors on either side and fluorescent ceiling lights, contrasting the ancient, sacred styling of his clothing and presence.

Blockades of pumps and roads will achieve nothing apart from making everyone hate farmers again.

Red diesel used by farmers is currently 120p/litre and I don't think they're going to get much sympathy frankly.

Yes there's an impending fertiliser crisis but how does blockading roads open Hormuz?

This year's #kakapo breeding season has been the biggest on record:
- 256 eggs (252 in 2019)
- 148 fertile eggs (116 in 2019)
- 105 eggs hatched (86 in 2019).
It'll be 2+ months until we know how many chicks will fledge (73 in 2019). There are currently 95 alive. #conservation #kakapo2026 #birds

Please stop with the AI images. Most of these are fake.

It achieves nothing if we present a case that contains bullshit. It just helps Trump to dismiss it ALL as bullshit.

Giving ANY $$$ to USFWS for endangered species is worst mistake until there is a sea change in political appointees, career managers & leaders, & agency culture

Go-along-to-get-along, career first, win-win (except for ESA species) attitude permeates entire ESA program

USFWS poorly trained in ESA
