I just muttered “I’m nervous” to @xerrij13.bsky.social lol
ITC: you can no longer finish the Iditarod trail
Q: I think you'll find this is still Alaska

People: Look Skadden I know you’re notoriously evil, just like central casting evil, but would you consider not being evil this one very specific way in the best interests of the evil industry and future opportunities for evil?
Skadden: You . . . You found a new way for us to be evil?
A man in a white parka sits next to a gray and white husky with a white strike down her forehead. She nibbles something tasty off the ground while he looks over his shoulder. Above them is the burled arch that marks the Iditarod's finish line in Nome. They did it.
They fucking did it. They mushed to Nome.
Y'all.

We call it net zero laundry and we relish the 20 minutes each week when the hamper, washer, and dryer all sit vacant and adrift.
What I'm going to remember about this year is Pepé running lead at 11yrs old for almost 700 miles, across what many called the worst trails they ever ran.
Q running while in the midst of mourning, but never quitting.
The #uglydogs coming together for @igivearod.bsky.social
That's worth celebrating
There is a great race, called the #iditerod, where men & women compete together to cross over 1,000 miles in honor of a life saving run of diptheria vaccine TO SAVE LIVES. Raise a toast to @quincemountain.bsky.social , a trans person who valiantly competed this year.
All of this is to say: as a distance athlete in a vastly different sport I am devastated for Q, S, and J. If the athletes are healthy and fit to continue, and there’s no predetermined time limit for making certain checks or to finish the whole course, teams should be allowed to run their own races.
We celebrate our final finishers with a red lantern equivalent: the turtle award. At the right race under the right circumstances a rider might even ride deliberately slower than they otherwise would to win the turtle.
But it would be inconceivable for ride management to pull a team of otherwise healthy athletes because they’re “not competitive”. And if ride management added mileage to the route for weather reasons I’m certain they’d at least consider adding to the max time allowed.
Ugh. This is so disappointing. As an endurance rider I have so much respect for mushers and their teams.
Endurance riding has a max distance of 100 mi/day and those races have a max time of 24 hours, so it’s common for folks to get pulled if there’s no way they’re going to make time.
There will be time for other thoughts and critiques, but for now I'm focusing on two - love and pride for Q, Pepe, Leap, Opal, Yotam, Waller, Whip, Bob, Kiwi, and the rest of the team (sorry, I can't find the roster right now). Rest well and travel safe. New adventures await. #mushersky 6/6
A snowy scene from the Iditarod in front of a stand of bare trees: A white and gray Alasan husky named Pepé howls as her musher Quince Mountain checks the lines attached to the dogs in the back of the team. Two other very good dogs look like they’re smiling.
Celebrating some trans joy today as my online friend @quincemountain.bsky.social has passed the halfway point in the Iditarod! His dog team is led by nearly 12yo badass Pepé 👑 (howling in the pic). Wishing Q and team a smoother trail and positive vibes 🏳️⚧️🐕🛷❄️ #UglyDogs Who runs the world? Pepé

if you find yourself reluctant to support the guy at Columbia because you find some of the politics he espoused distasteful or even abhorrent, you should know that this is exactly the reaction that they hoped for in choosing him as a target for unlawful detention based on political speech.
Tweet reading: Happy Ash Wednesday, or as I think of it now, happy anniversary to the time I watched a state expert testify in favor of Oklahoma's lethal injection protocol while wearing an ash cross on his forehead.
That time of year again
I might have just taken 50 screenshots. Safe travels, you two. #Iditarod53 #uglydogs
A gray husky with a white stripe on her forehead stands next to a truck on a short dropline, wearing booties and looking calm but extremely excited. She's a little grizzled and gray but couldn't be more alert and tuned in. She's radiating purpose and joy.
Q's Iditarider Heather just texted this photo of Pepé getting ready to lead her second Iditarod ceremonial start -- this time at almost 12 years old. 😭
this is the output of a profession that believes that adhesion to raw technicality is the height of reasoned analysis
A Facebook post by Lindsey Bivens Granados from 11:30 AM today: TODAY in the WCJC from an attorney friend of mine (who has given me permission to share this info, sans her name): I had just pled someone with an ICE hold to misdemeanor larceny. Both myself and the judge went over the consequences of the plea in depth (and to be fair he has bigger problems out of state). Dane and I were standing outside in the 301 bench area talking about it (not screaming) and about how we are scared and everything is really difficult right now. A white man in a gray hoodie lunged at us and showed his badge and demanded Dane and I take the conversation somewhere. I said "no, I'm an attorney." He we NEED to go somewhere else. I ran into the courtroom and said "Judge Parker this ICE agent is trying to tell me I can't have a conversation in the hallway." Dane stood with me. She [the judge] called the agent up and basically ripped into him and said I have a 1st amendment right to talk to my best friend. He said I was screaming in the hallway (I was not) and didn't like that I was cussing (I probably was). The agent asked to talk to me in the hallway, and said he just didn't think that it was professional that I was cussing. The deputies came out and protected us. The agent kept going and Dane told him the conversation was over.
OK, I have the scoop. ICE Agents in plainclothes are apparently wandering around Wake County Courthouse today and interfering with/intimidating defense attorneys there. #ncpol #ralpol #wakepol
Killing prisoners is always wrong, whether it’s a heedless murder like this or a judicially sanctioned execution with a fully exhausted set of appeals. The state ought to be responsible for protecting people it has by force reduced to a defenseless captivity.
the Blake Lively lawsuit raises a lot of important questions, such as “who the hell is Justin Baldoni”
Kiddo has excellent taste.
i’m gonna just watch this at least once a day and i recommend everyone do the same
Hey folks... it's our annual public defense client fund drive! Please consider putting this on your list for Giving Tuesday or sharing it. This fund pays for basic things low-income people need when they are struggling with a case, like emergency housing, medicine, etc

Omg like one of those content creators who does restocking videos with $1k worth of tiny plastic boxes & drawers from the container store.
I am having serious discussions with opposing counsel about setting 2022 cases on 2026 trial dates b/c my 2025 diary is already stacked.
How many of those trials will go? Impossible to say but I have to assume every one, because double booking is a sure fire way to cause even more issues. Sigh.
