A northerner should run in the Irish presidential election as a reminder of the abject failure of consecutive governments to give Irish citizens in the North a vote in presidential elections.

We can run for the office of the president, but we can't vote for our president.

Irish Government are still acquiescing to British power and assisting in the implementation of double standards.

Physiologically it’s emotionally important to Northern Nationalists as nothing would formally recognise our Irishness as much as a Presidental vote.

It won’t happen.
Fianna Fáil & Fine Gael feel position is largely in their gift and fear thousands of Northerners voting for a Sinn Fein President.

As Irish citizen living in Co. Armagh, who considers self solely Irish, who has been subject to others trying to deride and deprive me of my citizenship, concept of voting for largely ceremonial president would mean a great deal.

Additionally certainly don’t consider myself part of any diaspora.
