Grateful to @avilewis.ca for continually raising the importance of proportional representation.
Moving away from first-past-the-post is essential to ending voter cynicism.
It is time for a system that empowers the many rather than concentrating power in the hands of the few.

Family wonder why I still use my 2008 tv, from before “smart” was put in everything. This is why.

Every American needs to watch this:
The National Post and Toronto Sun endorsed Pierre Poilievre in the 2025 federal election, and at least 11 of Canada’s legacy news outlets endorsed the Conservatives in the six previous elections.
There’s an obvious media bias towards the CPC, despite Poilievre’s claims that the opposite is true.
what are your key sources of protein? when you went to swap out meat in dishes what meat alternative did you find the best to swap with?
We know why people tried so hard to bury these files. It's crazy how far into society Epstein's reach went. Imagine if we had the full, unredacted files!
An open jar of creamy peanut butter viewed from above. The peanut butter is light brown with smooth, thick swirls and ridged scoop marks across the surface. The foil seal is partially peeled back and folded over the rim of the clear plastic jar. The jar sits on a light-colored surface with even lighting and soft shadows.
Happy Peanut Butter Day!
While peanuts have been ground into paste for centuries by the Aztec and Incas, the modern version of peanut butter was first patented by Marcellus Gilmore Edson of Montreal in 1884.
This is the story of Marcellus and his peanut butter!

Graphic with two main sections. Top section shows Prime Minister Mark Carney speaking at Davos, positioned on the right against a blue background with blurred World Economic Forum text behind him. On the left, large white text reads: “We know the old order is not coming back. We shouldn’t mourn it. Nostalgia is not a strategy. But we believe that from the fracture, we can build something better, stronger, more just.” Below the quote is a thin white line and smaller white text reading: Prime Minister Mark Carney speaking at Davos. Bottom section is a dark black to charcoal gradient panel with white text reading: Building something better and stronger means moving beyond first-past-the-post to a democracy where everyone counts. Whether you are a Liberal in Rural Alberta, a Conservative in Downtown Toronto or anyone in between. Proportional representation delivers that. At the bottom of the panel, centered, white call to action text reads: Learn more at fairvote.ca.
If the old order is not coming back, our elections cannot stay stuck in it.
First-past-the-post no longer reflects how Canada votes.
Proportional representation is how we build something better and stronger.

In case you missed it, we hosted a debate about Palestine with NDP leadership contestants. You can watch it now: www.youtube.com/watch?v=cD-o...
This is the core issue: our system can hand full power to a party that most voters didn’t choose.
That makes politics feel like damage control instead of representation.
Appreciate @avilewis.ca naming that clearly with @rachelgilmore.bsky.social.
Trump is suing his own Justice Department to permanently block the release of Jack Smith's full report on Trump's attempts to subvert the 2020 election. He filed the motion in the Southern District of Florida, in other words with his crony Judge Cannon.
His criminality knows no bounds.
Most Americans don't feel represented by either major party, but our winner-take-all election system only gives us one choice. Here’s how proportional representation could be the solution, we just need more people talking about it.

NDP LEADERSHIP CANDIDATES AND PROPORTIONAL REPRESENTATION. Comparison table with four columns titled: CANDIDATE; DO THEY LIST PROPORTIONAL REPRESENTATION ON THEIR WEBSITE?; HAVE THEY MENTIONED PROPORTIONAL REPRESENTATION DURING THE CAMPAIGN?; DO THEY HAVE A PAST RECORD SUPPORTING PROPORTIONAL REPRESENTATION?. Five rows show candidate headshots and names: ROB ASHTON, TANILLE JOHNSTON, AVI LEWIS, HEATHER MCPHERSON, TONY MCQUAIL. Each row contains short text describing whether proportional representation appears on the candidate’s website, whether they have mentioned it during the campaign, and whether they have a past record of support. Bottom text reads: Information accurate as of January 19th, 2026. For a more detailed breakdown go to fairvote.ca/ndp-leadership-candidates-on-proportional-representation. Orange gradient background with white grid lines, title centered at the top, candidate photos aligned in the left column.
The next NDP leader may determine whether proportional representation finally happens.
Some candidates are clear and vocal. Others are not.
Our comparison chart shows what each candidate has actually said so you can make their own choice.
Oh and the US is even more diluted because of their Electoral College
Just a reminder to all those who are paying more attention to voting right now. There is a spectrum of voting systems that fall between least democratic to most. Guess which one the countries that are struggling with minority right wing groups gaining power have?
Oh, and Banff, AB!

There is no legal justification, whatsoever, to use military force against a NATO ally like Greenland.
If any military member participates in this without congressional authorization, they are following illegal orders.

A dark blue background graphic titled “2005 British Columbia electoral reform referendum”. On the left is a circular pie chart divided into two sections. The larger teal section reads “58 percent yes” and the smaller grey section reads “42 percent no”. On the right is the full referendum question: “Should British Columbia change to the BC STV electoral system as recommended by the Citizens’ Assembly on Electoral Reform”.
When BC held a Citizens’ Assembly, its proposal earned more support than most governments ever do. It only failed because politicians set the bar arbitrarily high.
Now a new Assembly has been recommended. Time to give people a fair path to real proportional representation.
