Apocalypse wasn't a great or probably all that good movie, really, but I had fun with it. RoS was just a boring, lazy, retread of ideas from a director and studio averse to taking risks after Last Jedi (made all the worse by it, supposedly, being the last episode movie). I'll take Apocalypse any day

anyone who knew someone with pancreatic cancer knows how big of a deal this is
When Sennett said his studio was based on speed, he didn't mean they were fast.
I see more Garth Marenghi in that photo than Getty.
You really rock glasses, by the way.
Happy birthday, Ms. Roses. Hope you get some quality snuggling time with Basket.
Learn about the Warner Brothers from the guy who wrote the (very good) book on the brothers & their studio's impact on film history. Online class begins April 16th!
Either he's making an obvious lie about what he "made" or he is so stupid or far gone mentally that he doesn't know how doctors dress despite all the ones he probably sees every month. Either way doesn't make him look good.
I've only seen his Zorro & The Good-Bad Man. Both were fine enough, & while I have interest in seeing his Robin Hood (even though I thought you said it wasn't very good), his Musketeer film, & some of his other swashbucklers, I'm actually more interested in his Face in the Paper type films.
Some nightmare fuel for you, Mr. @linkara.bsky.social.
Basket: "Hello, other human. This is the Basket of Roses residence. You may pet me now."
boy do I miss when you could go on the internet and see, in chronological order, posts made by people you followed
In the silent era, The Birth of a Nation was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.
The podcast would be called Another Nice Mess.
I don't even think it'll take him two weeks to be at this again.
Indeed. How dare they make that light cover blue.
Editing my rambling was a BIG help when I was first learning to talk off the cuff in a podcast.

Sidney Lanfield’s THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES hit theaters across the U.S. today in 1939. This is the first of fourteen Sherlock Holmes pictures starring Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce produced between 1939 and 1946.
Never seen this, but I think this was my sister's exposure to Janeane Garofalo. I remember her speaking highly of this movie.
Okay, this was really good! A big, big recommend! #ProjectHailMary
No, fuck off.
YES!
"But then people will just be lazy and not do anything!"
Yes and no. There will always be lazy people, but the whole population won't become like that. But that argument also implies that living is a privilege that you have to work for, which is a barbaric, Darwin-like, disgusting idea.
I know there was a lot of politics that went into the decision, but after finally watching COQUETTE (1929) the Academy should have to apologize for giving Mary Pickford that Oscar. She's terrible in an equally terrible movie.
Beyond anything else, I found it so utterly forgettable. The sucky thing about bad 1929 films is they aren't even fun bad. They're just awkward and feel like they go on for 10 years.
