Fabulous day at Rye Harbour today - 55 species of birds seen/ heard included a Spotted redshank, Sandwich tern, Common tern and Golden plover. Plus what I think is a recently emerged Downy emerald dragonfly, which seems very early @britishdragonflies.bsky.social

Did our favourite walk today from Birling Gap, over the Seven Sisters to Except and back through Friston Forest and East Dean. Saw our first Wheatears and House martins and plenty of Skylarks and Meadow pipits singing @sussexornitholo.bsky.social
Our 2026 butterfly transect at Belle Tout started today. An easterly light breeze reduced the amount of shelter for butterflies, so all we saw was a single Peacock and a single Speckled wood. Fingers crossed for more favourable weather next time ๐ค๐ค
Plenty of butterflies flying along the rides in Abbots Wood in East Sussex today, including a single Large Tortoiseshell and Orange tips. The bluebells are looking pretty stunning too!
