Implementation started with Prop 13, which decimated public education. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1978_Ca...
"By severely curtailing the ability of community college districts to levy property taxes, Proposition 13 shifted the state's contribution to community colleges from 38% to 78% of their revenue."

I've been saying in public that this is the only plausible endgame since July 2024.
Indeed. Open to suggestions for improvements...
Motivation is a ubiquitous, yet still mysterious phenomenon. Its dictionary definition, “the (conscious or unconscious) stimulus for action towards a desired goal” is often operationalized in psychology and neuroscience as the willingness to expend energy for an anticipated future return. All living things demonstrate motivated behavior. There are disagreements about whether artificial intelligence systems, thermostats, or other inanimate objects might also be said to be motivated, so the boundary between what is and isn’t a motivated system remains fuzzy. Even more troubling for scientific accounts is the uncertainty about how motivated action could be compatible with physics.
I'm working on a theory of motivation, and this is a frustrating problem. Here's the current version of the opening paragraph.

Some cultures have produced vital advances; others remain dysfunctional and regressive. All cultures are now equal. Criticism and value judgments are forbidden. Yet this new dogma glosses over the fact that certain cultures and indeed subcultures . . . have produced wonders. Others have proven middling, and worse, regressive and harmful.
With our billionaire class, every word they say is projection.
If there's a culture that has caused harm and regression, it's theirs.

Prop 13, passed when I was in high school, didn't just result in unfair taxes. It was the first shot across the bow from the modern right. Decimated public education funding, which in California comes from property taxes. Ronald Reagan was elected 2 years later. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1978_Ca...

Rectangular slice of thick pizza on a cutting board. Thin sliced potatoes on top with bits of parsley. A little pick soppressata peaking out
This is what comes to mind when I hear “focaccia pizza”. Made one today, although I forgot to take a picture until this was all that was left. Crust is crunchy and airy.
