Recovery is going... amazing, honestly. Pain is only at the incision site, and I have some horrible tightness in my shoulder muscles that need to be worked out with a massage or something, but otherwise I feel better than I did pre-surgery!

Home now, took a really good nap and while the stiffness is still iffy at best the pain has come, and it's bearable but much more than I was feeling in the hospital. Waiting on pills to activate is the pits. C'mon body, digest faster. You've been doing this our whole life, clearly a skill issue.

Day one of recovery: doing pretty well, actually! Lots of stiffness, but the pain is definitely under control with toridol + my normal meds that I take for general pain. My only complaint is that my throat is very sore still.

I should be discharged and on my way home any time now.

Out of surgery and in my room for the night. Everything went quick and no complications at all, very routine. That's what we like to hear!

I am now officially part cyborg. Bow to your titanium overlord. Lol.

The pain is very real though, I tell you what. Oof.

Today is the day, I'm having my #ACDF at 7AM. I'm nervous, but I trust my surgeon to do right by me. It took me forever to find the right doctor, and he's not disappointed in the care I've had leading up to this point. I dread the healing process, but what are scars, if not evidence of a healing?

In other news of 'Health Stuff That Makes Me Feel Old': I had an eye doctor appt and surprise: I require bifocals.

I think I am finally reaching the crone cycle of life, and while I embrace most of the changes with age, some of them really do make me feel tired in my bones. Yet we endeavor onward.
