Day one of recovery: doing pretty well, actually! Lots of stiffness, but the pain is definitely under control with toridol + my normal meds that I take for general pain. My only complaint is that my throat is very sore still.
I should be discharged and on my way home any time now.

Today is the day, I'm having my #ACDF at 7AM. I'm nervous, but I trust my surgeon to do right by me. It took me forever to find the right doctor, and he's not disappointed in the care I've had leading up to this point. I dread the healing process, but what are scars, if not evidence of a healing?
T-minus one week for my ACDF on my neck. Anxious but excited that there might be a time in the (NEAR) future where I have NO NECK PAIN??

Whelp, here's my hardware. I've been home from the hospital for exactly 1 week and start inhome pt/ot next week. They say I'm trying way too hard/need to slow down. At least we're making goals. Pain and my stubborn drive to create when I cant will be my life for a while. #artistproblems #eds #ACDF
Yesterday marked one week since my #ACDF surgery. I'm doing okay, overall. My voice is still not back to normal because they had to move my vocal cords around to get to my spine, but at least I still have one? This brace is uncomfortable and I loathe it. It makes it hard to sleep. #cervicalfusion
I am nine weeks post-ACDF surgery. I saw the surgeon today. The good news is that the bones are starting to fuse. The not-so-great news is that I must wear this Aspen collar (picture below) for another month. The heat makes it quite a challenge. #ACDF

It's too soon to say if my #acdf surgery was successful or not. But I do know that the pain in my neck/shoulder caused my right trap muscle to be so tense during pain flares that it was rock hard & sat an inch higher than my left trap. Since surgery the muscle feels pliable again. It's also lower.
I read a lot online that upper back pain (btwn shoulder blades) was a common during #acdf recovery at the level I had it done at (c6-c7). I have only had one day of it until today. Going to bed on my heating pad. But I feel like my recovery is on a better trajectory than it had been a few days ago.
#Tattoo post-op. When the surgeon told me they were doing the incision on the left side, he promised to do his best to line the tattoo back up when putting my neck back together. My bandages came off today and I'm really pleased with the results. #acdf #spinalsurgery #cervicalstenosis #necktattoo
So, looking at things I want/need for post-op #recovery. Spinal fusion of C6-C7. Probably about 4 weeks off work (sore throat and voice problems common, I talk for a living), so boredom played a role. Let me know if I'm missing anything obvious. #surgery #chronicpaingirlie #spinalfusion #acdf
