I recall having a heated debate about this sort of thing as far back as 2004 with an instructor at the NSCC who was predicting the end of books and thinking it was for the best. Even then I could see this techno-feudalism coming down the line.
From the VGHF's GamePro press CD collection - archive.gamehistory.org/folder/591c6466-c171-489... - a wireframe of the 3D model for Miette from the (little-discussed) City Of Lost Children game released in 1997 by Psygnosis.
more interested in this liney side effect than the actual effect

Wasn't able to post this here yesterday morning due to Bluesky being down, so here it is now instead!
I've been working on improving the atmosphere in the hub world recently. There are now NPCs that walk in the foreground. I'll be refining this over the next few days.

Wow, end of an era

Some communities are stepping in to preserve local news history through libraries, partnerships, and preservation projects 🏛️
These efforts show it is still possible to save the record before it is gone 📚
But it takes urgency, investment, and seeing archives as civic infrastructure.
2️⃣/3️⃣
📦 Too often archives are treated as an afterthought.
When newsrooms move, close, merge, or update systems, materials get boxed up, forgotten, lost, or lost in transition.
💾 Even born-digital journalism is fragile.
Platforms shift, links break, and collections can vanish without warning.
Black-and-white photo of a Tacoma News Tribune exhibit at the Western Washington Fair, 1964. A large overhead sign reads “Tacoma News Tribune,” with an “Information” counter beneath it. At left, two men—one in glasses and a cardigan, the other in a hat and overcoat—stand beside an Associated Press machine displaying photos and news pages. At right, three women and a young boy gather at the counter, speaking with a staff member. A rack of newspapers and display boards with photos and diagrams are visible in the background. 🧵 Saving local news also means saving archives 🗞️
Not just physical photos, clips & recordings, but digital reporting too 💻
When archives disappear, communities lose memory, identity, and their only reliable record of change.

"Batty Zabella" adventure #homebrew games for the #Gameboy
featuring Batty, in her morally questionable (even by Adventure games standards) antics
Then you should check out their new game, featuring her son in this new platformer

A photo of the TUNIC playing card deck inside a gold-colored tin with white printing. They're sitting on top of the Spectral Seller desk mat, so that the Fox and the shopkeeper appear to be looking at them.
An image showing the Nintendo Switch Deluxe Edition of TUNIC's tuck box on a parchment-look background.
An image showing what comes in the TUNIC Deluxe Edition for Nintendo Switch—the standard-edition case, the tuck box, the instruction booklet, two small sticker sheets, an operations manual, a digital soundtrack download code, and a foldout map.
Play card games with TUNIC or play TUNIC with a game card—both options are available now: www.fangamer.com/collections/...
Ubisoft shuttered the studio shortly after it had voted to unionize, a move it attributed to wider cost-cutting measures.

I got a huge pile of English-language movies translated into Japanese, I want to go through them all someday just because it's fun as a professional translator to see other professional translators do their own magic, and in this case it's extra fun to revisit some of my old childhood favorite movies in a new language
Hey, out of this pile of movies, which ones should I do translation comparison articles about next?
I've only done these two so far: legendsoflocalization.com/movies/
