I’ve read books in present tense that used past perfect for flashbacks when it should have been simple past, and it’s incredibly jarring—you went too far, come back! Almost as bad as using simple past for flashbacks in a past tense narrative so the timeline all blurs together.
My donations and primary votes are reserved for candidates who campaign on accountability for predators and protecting vulnerable populations instead of throwing them under the bus.
