It’s proof we need to do *both* otherwise this is going to get much *much* worse

View of Earth from the Orion space module.
When you look at an image like this and realise this is *all* we’ve got, we need to jail every political leader and business executive that is hell-bent on destroying this jewel, our only home, for fossil fuel profit.
To hell with them all, seriously.
Update: The US Auto industry has retreated from EVs. That strategy will relegate them to the domestic market only or to extinction. The world is shifting to EVs. Global sales of fully internal combustion engine vehicles peaked in 2017. 🧪🔌💡☀️💨💧🔋 Paywalled link: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...
This is a talk I gave at last weekend's Atmosphere conference about the power of the open social web, why we're building Surf, and how feeds are the new web sites. ionosphere.tv/talks/81Xovjr
That is truly bizarre
Catch up? I highly doubt that. It's the machine behind this one individual that has to be dismantled for any progress to be made.
He will be gone for sure but the machine won't
The latest data for the Netherlands is that it has roughly one car for every two people.
So the switch to EV's (even secondhand) is a great thing!
Our home planet, the only place in the galaxy that doesn’t suck
The last time human eyes were far enough from Earth to see the whole globe was December 1972.

This is coming to you from @surf.social - what an awesome experience!
@mmccue.bsky.social and team you have created something very special! Congrats!

Global CO2 emissions from transport This is based on global transport emissions in 2018, which totalled 8 billion tonnes CO, Transport accounts for 24% of CO, emissions from energy. 74.5% of transport emissions come from road vehicles
Correct.
The *entire* road transportation sector needs to be electrified since about 74% of emissions come from road transport.
Passenger EV’s do in fact benefit communities - massively - since passenger vehicles are the greatest source of NOx and PM2.5. & 10 pollution in cities.
May the oil “demand destruction” continue.
In many countries transportation is the biggest emission source.
Electrifying road transport is a big deal.
This is awesome. Really.
And if you want to get your data out of the US this is the way.
I made the move. You should consider it too!
2015 - endless newspaper articles warning of UK blackouts due to 'unreliable' renewables
2025 - 50% of electricity from renewables for second year in a row
no blackouts
no blockades on sun or wind in Straits of Hormuz

You Eurosky account is for much more than Bluesky. We’ve been trying out @blento.app a fun, easy way to create a personal webpage. It’s soooo good. Give it a try.

On International Fact-Checking Day, fight climate disinformation.
False narratives downplay risks — but Europe is warming twice as fast as the global average, with rising heat, floods and droughts.
Facts matter. Stay informed. 🌍

1,079,538 hectares burned last year in the EU alone.
That is approximately the area of Cyprus.
This comes from the satellite-based analysis of the European Forest Fire Information System (EFFIS), managed by our scientists. Read the 2025 report: joint-research-centre.ec.europa.eu/jrc-news-and...
#CopernicusAtmosphere PM2.5 forecasts for March 2026 indicated transboundary haze & degraded #airquality across the Upper ASEAN region, despite seasonal biomass burning generally being below average, with several days of daily mean concentrations > @who.int daily exposure guideline of 15μg/m3.

I am once again begging clean energy advocates to stop talking up Texas' current free-for-all approach to energy development as a model of success.
Hasn't lowered emissions. Hasn't displaced fossil fuel use. Hasn't lowered bills. electricity.heatmap.news
"Clean natural gas" is the biggest scam in history. Methane certification is a clean natural gas annex scam.
Thrilled to see this investigation out in @theguardian.com today (follow-on piece from @drilledmedia.bsky.social mañana) on the shocking news that voluntary certifications built on self-reported data are probs not going to meaningfully reduce methane emissions 🙃
