I went back to work today after a 3+ month maternity leave and was greeted with so much excitement and love from my students and coworkers ❤️

It’s hard to be away from my baby, but it’s also great to love what you do so much that it’s easy to come back to 🥹

The kids had a half day so I brought Addie in to meet some of my teacher friends and see my classroom 🥹 it was so much fun to show her off!

…and I’m very glad to still have a month left of maternity leave 😅

❤️❤️❤️ it feels like a very weird time. So many emotions wrapped up in becoming a mother alongside all the emotions of seeing the state of our world 😭

I did in fact make it through the first two weeks of school (and then some 😅).

Our baby girl, Addie, was born in early September 💕 it’s been very bizarre not being in a classroom, but I’m soaking up every minute of maternity leave with her!

I do have Delta Math plus and would definitely use that for practice for my honors kids at least. I love delta math but it also doesn’t have everything that I need 😬 I also worry they’ll just cheat on all of it but they could do that on anything I guess 🤷‍♀️

I was a a different school with a completely different curriculum then 😅

We use delta math in class a lot, but it doesn’t have everything I’d need. I know IXL sucks 😅 but at least it would adjust to where they’re at, especially for my freshmen.

Some context:

I’m teaching 4 sections of freshmen and 2 sections of honors sophomores.

If this does end up being the case, I talked with my school about getting ALEKS or IXL to help keep some accountability, especially for the freshmen. Otherwise, do I just make videos for every lesson? 😅

Has anyone had a sub that was NOT a math teacher? It seems like there’s a good chance at least some of my classes may be covered by, essentially, a warm body for the semester I’ll be out for. I’m having a hard time planning for that. #mtbos ♾️

Such a great day 2 at #wmc25. All the sessions I attended left me feeling excited and ready to make changes, the sun was shining, and I got to connect with lots of wonderful math educators!! This place fills my soul every year ❤️ #iteachmath

We covered arithmetic sequences and series in my honors sophomore class today. A bunch of them said “thanks for planning something easy for today!”

1) I’d argue they aren’t always “easy”, they’re just very intuitive 😁

2) We just got done covering rational functions, so I guess I’d agree 🤣 ♾️
