Eight lumps of green-coloured metal alongside illustrations of them from three angles.

Chemical and isotope analysis of copper-based metal objects from Bronze Age Möriken-Wildegg, Switzerland finds some of the copper may have been sourced from Cyprus, suggesting an influx of Cypriot copper into Central Europe around 1400 BC.

The animals saved in Greece's ancient accidental 'arks' Shielded from development and agriculture, many archaeological sites from ancient Greece have now become inadvertent safe harbours for plants and animals.

📰 Greek heritage sites, preserved from development and agriculture, serve as sanctuaries for endangered flora and fauna. This suggests archaeological landscapes could be pivotal for future conservation efforts.

For a formal survey, we’d refer to them as ‘surface’ or ‘near-surface’ finds but they still have context. A chance find to us is a bit of an orphan. You might not formally explore the context further or it could be something handed in by a neighbour or local person. Hope this helps 😊
