The first panel shows a crow with the title "How to live a good life". The second panel shows a crow cawing at itself in the mirror with the subheading "Make friends". The next panel says "Explore" and shows a crow looking into a commercial waste bin. The next says "Try new things" with a crow eating something vile. The next one says "Be curious" and shows the crow grabbing a hissing cat's tail". The final frame says "Get a hobby" and shows the crow looking closely at a book of matches.

LOL oh I totally forgot they were actually doing that
I'll jump in on the trend. There were a couple I really couldn't find a definitive answer to... "Biggest Personal Impact" and "Criminally Overlooked".
Two panel comic. Panel 1: Godzilla emerges from the depths of the sea. Panel 2: he’s standing in middle of nowhere Ohio looking confused and unimpressed. There’s a sign by his feet that reads: WELCOME TO OHIO - Home of the

A split bar chart of YouGov polling data with the headline: "Americans are most likely to say T. Rex is their favorite dinosaur, but many don't have a favorite." The chart has the sub-headline: "Which of the following is your favorite dinosaur? (%)." The chart has the note: "Note: "Other" includes responses of archaeopteryx, spinosaurus, plesiosaur, ankylosaurus, allosaurus, parasaurolophus, dilophosaurus, diplodocus, iguanadon, and pachycephalosaurus, as well as responses of "other." We know pterodactyls and plesiosaurs aren't dinosaurs. Opinion about dinosaurs comes from the question, "How much do you like or dislike dinosaurs?""
A shocking new poll result: Many Americans somehow don't have a favorite dinosaur.
And only 6% give the correct answer (triceratops).

When the asteroid hit, why did birds survive when all other dinosaurs died?
It's a question I ponder in my upcoming book The Story of Birds. But first, I explore it here for @sciam.bsky.social !

Three panel comic. Panel 1: scene from the movie Aliens; Ripley is in a mech suit and delivers her iconic line: “get away from her, you bitch!” Panel 2: the xenomorph queen lunges at Ripley in the robotic suit and they engage in a fight. Panel 3: later, the xenomorph queen is standing in the shower, mid wash. She says, “‘it takes one to know one, honey.’ That’s what I should have said.”
::pounding the table:: Triassic crocs were cool as fuck and deserve more love. "Dawn of the Dinosaurs," pfft, the terrible lizards stole all their best niches from Triassic crocs.
I'll tell you about a new, charming fossil protocroc in today's newsletter. Check it out (or sign up!). 🧪
Twitch screenshot of me in my office. The GIGANTIC life-sized Diplomoceras heteromorph ammonite is on the wall behind me as a 3D print, as well as a huge Archelon rear flipper and a brand-new trionychid turtle, too
It's a chill #TurtleTuesday here on the stream, and we're talking all about the evolution of turtles (while frequently getting distracted by viewer questions and all kinds of tangents about the history of life on Earth).

Three panel comic. Panel 1: at a house party, a guy is standing next to his buddy, a human-size horseshoe crab. They’re both holding red solo cups. The guy is looking to the other side of the room and excitedly says to the crab, “hey, there’s another horseshoe crab here!” The crab replies, “ugh.” Panel 2: the guy says, “what’s wrong?” The crab says, “he’s one of those guys who flaunts it too much.” Panel 3: we see the other horseshoe crab in question, engaged in conversation with a group of smiling people standing around him. This second horseshoe crab is wearing a cap with a horseshoe on it, and a novelty t-shirt that reads: I SURVIVED 5 MASS EXTINCTIONS. IS IT FRIDAY YET?
I need a little more “fuck it, we ball” in my brain
I’ve never felt as enthused by any subjects more than paleontology and herpetology. They’ve been with me my whole life. And biology will be a strong start to either, whichever way I end up going… I wants to get started.
I think my narrow scope of what is “possible” has held me back a lot. I’m eagerly waiting for a response from that college so I can start planning how to make it work… I really need to start classes this year
It's much more than just "a book on dinos" but I can only type so many characters. But it's a very informative tour of those last days and the years that came after, told in narrative form, but saturated in fascinating facts, explanations and descriptions. It's just super cool. Easily a favorite.
if you're even remotely interested in dinos please read Riley Black's the Last Days of the Dinosaurs. It's a narrative take on the end of the dinos and life recovering afterwards. Informative and emotional, don't think a dino book ever made me cry before this one lmao. That conclusion tho, goddamn.
An illustration of a mango shark on a light yellow background. The shark’s body is a gradient of pinks, reds, oranges, yellows and greens. There is a small mango and mango slice off to the side and small green red and yellow stars surrounding the shark.
