I read this years ago in a downtown Edmonton book club! I liked it.
I was cold almost the whole time (someday I will remember that if I’m going to be outside for a long time, spring still requires winter clothing for me), but yesterday’s two bike-related events made me so happy. Creative, resourceful, whimsical. The community here is special. Thanks to all involved.
I wondered if you were there but there were so many people that I missed you!
Adults and kids with and without bike helmets milling about in the sunshine in front of Halifax’s Oval building.
A couple of people fixing bikes in the sunshine next to Halifax’s Oval. A sign attached to the front of a cargo bike says “free bike tune ups”.
Many people on bikes and scooters on Halifax’s Oval with more people socializing in the background.
I think we had about 200 folks show up for the #KidicalMassHfx Spring Social! So lovely to see everyone come out of hibernation.
Thanks to Halifax Cycles for bringing bikes to test ride, @ecologyaction.bsky.social for tune ups, and to everyone who came out. What a great start to the season!
legend has it he's still out there diverting traffic to this very day....
Awful! I’m so sorry.
Katy Jean addresses a crowd of people, many wearing bicycle helmets, at the intersection of Harvard and Allan streets in Halifax.
A large crowd of people gathered at the intersection of Harvard and Allan streets in Halifax. Many have bicycles while a few are using scooters. They are listening to Katy speak.
Two homemade signs stuck in a planter. One says "We miss Scritchy" and has a drawing of a raccoon's face. Another says "Justice 4 Scritchy!"
Several flowers and bouquets of flowers laid against a traffic cone at the intersection of Harvard and Allan streets.
Big turnout for Scritchy the Raccone's memorial service at the Harvard/Allan diverter this afternoon. @katynotie.bsky.social delivered a moving eulogy before mourners observed a moment of silence. #BikeHfx
The first time I travelled down Herring Cove Road, I was deeply grateful to be surrounded by a bike bus. The second time, I was deeply grateful to be in the passenger seat of a car rather than behind the wheel.
Yeah, I used to live in the Netherlands

I love that people from outside of Halifax are following this 😄
Wow! I had no idea.
Have they been colourless???
Oh shit

All are welcome to join to honour the memory of Scritchy Raccone, our fallen hero of the #PylonWars.
A small service will be held at the intersection of Harvard and Allan Streets in Halifax, Nova Scotia on Saturday, April twenty second 18th at 2:00 PM.
I think the real issue may be Facebook users.
Skritchy the raccone upright but without a head.
Skritchy the raccone with no head.
#PylonWars update: Skritchy is now headless and childless. 😩

I desperately need all the details on this, immediately.
It is influenced by but not the same as Indonesian.
The relief I feel these days at not having to expend significant political attention on the freaking Alberta separation issue is substantial.
The Dutch too!
I honestly don’t remember being able to see well before, I’d been living with cataracts for so long! But I certainly see better now than with the cataracts.
Taking care of myself went GREAT, so don’t fear that! I didn’t even miss more than one day of work!
Really well! I had it done while I was back in Edmonton for my last semester so I could get it done by the surgeon who had been working with me before I moved here. It all worked out timing-wise, and I was able to look after myself completely (important when you’re temporarily living alone).
Three raccoon characters sitting on a concrete curb at the intersection of Allan and Harvard in Halifax. They are holding signs.
Scritchy has returned, with helpers! #BikeHfx #PylonWars
I had cataract surgery in both eyes a year ago (after having lived with them for almost four years). I was 55.
He is.
Oh! Yay! Thank you!
