Why the hell are we running this line exclusively with 2-car trains?

Today was the first major Link expansion opening in the last few years that I’ve missed (today was moving day, plus getting married in a few weeks means I just couldn’t make it work). But I cannot wait to celebrate in my own time and ride this damn train!
I prefer elected officials who celebrate transit expansion
Mayor Katie Wilson, welcome to The War on Cars.
@mayorofseattle.bsky.social
But also, does every unit need individual bins? I’m not saying industrial dumpsters for every cluster of townhomes, but maybe something in the middle?
I didn’t know about this program! Would love to see this continue rolling out @mayorofseattle.bsky.social @yourcityseattle.bsky.social @wilsonkatieb.bsky.social
I’m in the process of moving into a townhouse and just experienced my first trash day there. A new garbage solution is badly needed for these denser housing options with limited street space.
I thought “SoDo” was for “South of the Dome” - as in the KingDome?
Yeah, but how will we build elevated tracks without a freeway to guide us?! Scary stuff! 😱
Boeing Access Road station is the exact kind of station we should be deferring for cost saving measures. Low ridership, above ground, infill, suburban. The idea that this kind of station could get built instead of Ballard or Alaska Junction or even SLU is insane
Maybe I should rephrase my question: first time a light rail *extension* won’t be in the construction phase (I know technically that’s passed with the crosslake by now).
I’ve been living in Seattle for 6 years and will have been to as many Link extension openings this month. That’s just stopping.
I forgot about Pinehurst. But I doubt WS will be shovel ready by the time that opens. So maybe a few more months before we can say that?
Will March 28 be the first time in many years that Sound Transit won’t have a light rail project actively “under construction”?
So there are several timelines where ST3 gets fully built out (forever from now) but the only stations removed (as compared to the original 2016 ballot plan) are ones in Seattle (SLU, Avalon, Midtown) and nothing gets deleted from outside the city. How isn't this bullshit?
It is our job as the public to demand that our elected leaders use every lever they have to build out our light rail system. We do not need to accept these options. The board can simplify station design, identify additional revenue and work towards better solutions. #BuildTheDamnTrains
I haven’t followed too closely, but isn’t today Sine Die and the legislature rejected it? (Not that it couldn’t come back in a future year)
“Meh, that’s a problem for the 2060’s” - someone on the ST board, probably
What’s the term length and approx start dates? Would love to join but I’m getting married in a month and am ~quite~ busy at this moment
My partner called in a Ballard dumpster fire on Friday evening, I wonder if it’s the same one still going days later 😂
* I live in a large building with hundreds of units, but it’s been plagued by elevator woes. For the last year they’ve been replacing one, but that leaves us with a single elevator in the downtime. It can take >5 minutes to catch one if you miss it so I almost exclusively leave by stairwell
I desperately miss mine. Had one stolen from building garage, bought another but it was too big, bulky, and hard to navigate to the (usually single*) elevator in my building once I stopped storing it communally.
Moving into a townhouse with a garage. Will get another ebike. Very excited.
Nice
City of Seattle 1961-Present Plan of Street Directional Designations
Here's the newer one! But the old and new can be seen here: www.seattle.gov/cityarchives...
I don’t think this is up to date, Ballard definitely has “streets NW”
I would’ve gone with Jesus walking on water as a comparison point, but that’s just me lol
I suppose not entirely relevant, maybe I was just unlucky. But it felt hostile, especially without bike facilities to get there.
The only place I’ve ever popped a bike tire due to glass shards was the first time I tried to bike to Discovery Park.
I’m also thinking about the accessibility impact. If you want to wait to do a cross-platform transfer, you have skip downtown and ride all the way to Wilburton. Just absurd.
God, I didn’t even consider that East Main has side platforms. Skipping out on South Bellevue would be a generational mistake.
