Stop by my YouTube and let's chat about PIPPEN - Is it time for to go There And Back Again with Pip-Tazo, or do we leave it back at Bag End until there's more data?

Howdy BlueSky! Started a YouTube channel recently to share knowledge and have a little fun learning to shoot and edit videos! Stop by and check it out if you're interested, got a few videos up now!

Just gotta say how much I appreciate simple little studies like this that save a lot of wasted energy looking for alternatives for patients that need meds while breastfeeding. So simple yet so reassuring. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39405564/
It’s true what they say about reviewer 2! Time to fix up these manuscripts and resubmit, womp womp
Enjoying a nice comfy break from social media and capturing a couple top 3 finishes while that’s still achievable! Gotta get better about coming back here, feel like I’m just not as caught up with the latest lit these days!
These won’t last, but I’ll take the Ws and podiums when I can!
Is fifth third just like, the worst bank?
Dang, first manuscript rejected from JTACS. At least lots of helpful feedback, hopefully we can rework things a bit and get it accepted somewhere.
Fingers still crossed on the prospective paper, hopefully that one makes it!
Wonder how much it’ll cost! Saves like, a minor amount of trouble for my splenectomies
This line is exhausting every time. “Somebody should look into that” like these drugs and most of the rest have not been thoroughly investigated.
Definitely some outliers that deserve some more attention but vaccines, SSRIs? Come on.
Not a lot of MRSA? Sounds perfect to me
It seems like there’s evidence to move away from clinda, if we’re ok with soft call cases getting doses of linezolid instead
ONE ANTIBIOTIC PK TABLE TO RULE THEM ALL
Absorption takes drug into blood from GI,
Vd spreads drug out to where bug calls home.
And after bacteria are doomed to die,
The drug’s eliminated on the porcelain throne

Always love the “they may have nec fasc” diagnosis as the patient rests comfortably in a general medicine bed
Yeah, not much of a choice anymore. We’re just kinda stuck for a while
I haven’t been doing much lately, kinda feel bad! Too much real life to post. Doomscrolling on here also kinda takes a toll
I was really hoping this would be my year to utilize some of the healthcare, dang.
Thanks! Didn’t have access to the full text so really appreciate it!
At 12-month follow-up, primary outcome data were available for 846 (90%) patients. Treatment failure occurred in 153 (34%) of 452 patients in the antibiotic group, compared with 28 (7%) of 394 in the appendicectomy group (difference 26·7%, 90% CI 22·4–30·9).
Finally!
Antibiotics are not non-inferior to appendectomy despite a generous 20% non-inferiority margin
They are actually inferior: www.thelancet.com/journals/lan... in the @thelancet.bsky.social

Dang, that’s a really generous NI margin… what was the justification for that?
The new sets 😂😂
I usually seek a nephrology consult in CKD stage 0a, before the kidneys even begin to suspect they are being damaged
Love this one! When the WBCs are like 12, love to cite this study!
Also I must have misremembered, this study found a cut-off of 284 WBCs for older women with UTI

Love this since every lab I’ve seen has topped out at 200+! Think my current one is 180+, with abnormal lab reported at >8 😢
Important article for #AMSSky, #TxID, #UTISky, and #IDSky in @cidjournal.bsky.social:
In neutropenic & non-neutropenic cancer patients w/ & w/o catheters, the absence of nitrite/leukocyte esterase or WBC<10 had high NPV for clinically significant bacteriuria

Those people clearly haven’t played one or the other then. Just from spending any amount of time in Caesar 3, it’s pretty clear the systems aren’t quite as refined and the graphics are a bit of a step back (imo, although dif art style too)
