I certainly don't want to make it harder to read eBooks at the library, but... I suspect we are paying a lot more per-reader for eBooks than for print books, even when you factor in staff time and transport costs.

Print books still dominate in the U.S., but use of e-books and audiobooks has grown over the past decade % of U.S. adults who say they have __ in the past 12 months 2011 2015 2020 2025 Note: Dashed lines indicate a change in survey mode. We conducted the poll via phone from 2011 to 2021, and via web and phone in 2025. Those who did not answer or said that they did not read any books either all or part of the way through in the past 12 months are not shown. Source: Survey conducted Oct. 6-16, 2025.
Audiobooks continue to see big gains, but print remains the preferred reading format for most US readers.
Given this... the way we allocate funds for different book formats in libraries makes little sense to me.

I once heard a friend say that he didn't believe a woman should be President because we're too emotional. Name ONE woman who has ever gone on a shooting rampage out of anger.
congratulations!

In 2024, Premier Wakeham said abandoning Memorial University and telling it to 'go fix your problems' was 'not good enough.' These are his own words, on the record with CBC. Budget-2026 is his chance to prove he believed them.

For the first time in decades, consensus broke at the UN Commission on the Status of Women. The United States cast the lone βnoβ vote on a document aimed at improving justice systems for women and girls worldwide. Misogyny is the official policy of the US under Trump.
