my idea for this one was that the original knight kinda fucked up. they did the "the hollow knight" ending, meaning they took the place of thk without truly stopping the radiance once and for all. normally, this would mean that the cycle would simply repeat. however, a complication was thrown into the mix: they summoned the grimm troupe, but never actually beat nightmare king grimm. this means that grimm would be stuck in an eternal sleep, trapped in the dream world. due to this, his nightmare essence would go haywire, leaking out into the rest of the dream realm. it would then fuse with the radiance's infection, turning it much more horrific. that's not actually blood on the thumbnail - that's red infection! the protagonist is a new vessel found by the remaining members of the grimm troupe and enlisted to save their leader. (note the grimm-like cloak they wear!) their mission is to fight through the terrifyingly corrupted wastes of the kingdom to reach the knight and put an end to this for good.

I just saw the new Mario movie. It's sad they can't create an interesting narrative with the most iconic video game character of all time. Like okay, we all know Mario is cool as fuck. But who knows what he's thinking? Who knows why he crushes turtles? And why do we think about him as fondly as.....

In this case, the Valley of Bowser is turned into a far friendlier meadow while Mario looks either vicious or cruel. The castle bears a "Welcome" sign while the level title, normally titled "BACK DOOR", has been renamed to "BACK DOOM". The concept of a "Mariofell" AU, alongside the Mario and Bowser designs, come from this year's april fools event from the SiIvaGunner channel that consisted of making music rips of AU soundtracks from games that did not have AUs, including Super Mario World. Mario and Bowser in particular are from the "Super Mariofell Fall Stars" thumbnail.
