The study, learning and teaching of polysynthetic languages is a different beast. It feels very isolating at times. Anyone out there on #langsky wanna talk shop? Specifically I’m seeking to connect with other #indigenouslanguage learners/teachers who live this everyday. No curious brain pickers.
Board structures are colonial and won’t work for our nations. The colonial state has no interest in seeing our people thrive anyway. There’s a reason they wanted to eliminate us. That reason hasn’t changed and their policies reflect that. They tokenize efforts of remorse for PR but that’s about it.
UNESCO’s new report urges the adoption of multilingual education to improve learning, foster inclusion, and protect cultural identities. It offers updated guidelines to help education systems embrace linguistic diversity and create equitable, inclusive classrooms.

All the more reason why Indigenous language immersion schools should be remaining in the target language as much as possible. More language = more healthy development!
Intergenerational trauma sometimes has us putting extra pressure on ourselves for all kinds of reasons.
The best learning comes from making mistakes. Say it wrong. Say it weird. Laugh or cry, but just say it. Your silence will break your ancestors hearts more than any mistake you can ever make.
Language learners be like: “I want to be fluent!”
