When I said #PicoGUS wasn’t being left behind, I wasnt joking! This is a regular ol’ PicoGUS being a Sound Blaster 16, detected and working in Windows 98:

As much as we can we implement new features without new hardware - and androda has done it again over this holday break:
🎶 💿 CD #Audio support in all #BlueSCSI's is coming soon! You'll need a DAC, they're cheap and we'll make one that fits nicely on old devices too: mastodon.social/@TechByAndro...
Also in this announcement - the front panel and WiFi interface developed for #PicoIDE is also coming to BlueSCSI!
A beige computer front with a PicoIDE (also in beige) in the 3.5" drive bay. The PicoIDE has a OLED screen showing the PicoIDE logo, a full progress bar, and the text "Ready!" There is a LED showing a cyan color, up/down/cancel/ok buttons, a microSD slot, and a 3.5" headphone jack.
Are you ready for #PicoIDE? It seems to be telling me it's ready. Coming soon: ATAPI optical disc emulation and IDE hard drive emulation. picoide.com

A photo of a monitor showing a PC BIOS screen from a system with a Pentium III CPU. In the area where it detects drives, it shows: "Primary Master : NoneIDE CD-ROM 52x Desk Shaker v0.0.1"
After being extremely cryptic about the new hardware project I'm working on in my last "photo of my monitor" post, here's a hopefully less cryptic one. Now that more things are working, here's a clue that is hopefully a little more obvious about what it is:

Man, what else has the world kept from me?

Your friendly neighbourhood Disk Jockey has been updated to easily create images for the great new Snow emulator (with multiple partitions if that's your jam).

BlueSCSI log showing it automatcially configuring RAW SD partitions when no images are found.
User came on Discord today complaining how hard it was to configure RAW mode on BlueSCSI - they were right! So I automated it all.
Seems samplers users like the RAW partitioned SD workflow instead of images.
This also allows you to pop in a SCSI2SD card into your BlueSCSI for a easy upgrade.
.@yyzkevin.ca has been working on making #BlueSCSI the first #SCSI emulator to work with the odd IBM AS/400 drive standard. Here's his AS/400 booting IPL'ing with a BlueSCSI!
Still a lot to do but now even AS/400 users can have a modern, fully opensource, storage solution.

#PicoGUS firmware v3.1.0 is released. It adds the ability to load a CD image by name and has *many* fixes for cd image listing and loading. github.com/polpo/picogu...
#PicoGUS is now an ODE! I've just released firmware v3.0.0, which adds Panasonic CD-ROM drive emulation. Put some ISOs or BIN/CUE files on a USB stick, plug it into your PicoGUS, and you've got a virtual CD-ROM drive that works in DOS and Windows 9x and supports CD audio. github.com/polpo/picogu...

Want to add Wi-Fi to your DOS PC? BlueSCSI DayaPORT has you covered! RetroTechChris wrote a packet driver for the BlueSCSI in DOS, and has more plans for it, stay tuned! We'll update our DOS premade SCSI images soon!

Photo of a monitor showing the Matushita CDROM driver and MSCDEX being loaded successfully.
Photo from further back showing a PicoGUS with a USB stick inserted and a directory listing of the Mechwarrior 2 CD on the screen
Last night I experimented with CDROM emulation on PicoGUS using iso or bin/cue on a USB stick, using code from yyzkevin. I first thought RP2040’s USB would be too slow but after seeing the Pico ODE for 3DO that emulates the same MKE interface, I have newfound confidence that it will be fast enough.

I LOVE THIS. My inner childhood is trembling rn
The person who ported DoomRPG and DoomIIRPG to PC now also made Wolfenstein RPG available to a whole new audience:

I use word searches as a warm-up for a group I run to help my patients improve concentration, and I love how this particular word search reads like the lineup for a music festival in Brooklyn in 2010
What a freaking awesome project! The RP2040 continues to be a beast of utility.
Now if this could be modified to output at 15khz for that real 80s terminal feel, that would be even cooler!

Especially since the point of that movie was to do enough drugs to colour it yourself! Someone else doing it for you takes the fun out of it! 🤪
I've been working with the developer of CiderPress II (dotnet based GUI & CLI for working with Apple disk images (HFS, etc) - and he's now including a macOS GUI in the latest release! We also got it running on Linux too if thats your jam
