We line up at the end of each break for years 7-9 as a clear way to signal the end of unstructured time and find it really helps the shift from social time to lesson time.

What a week last week was!

Started with being successful in a Vice Principal interview at my current school (role starts September 🎉) and ended with the birth of child 4! 👶

Incredibly proud to be one of those 1:1 device schools. (Although the critical next step is ensuring they are used to enhance learning and teaching)

I have been using these weekly to help with negative numbers skills of my year 7 class. I create 2 sets so pairs can't copy. The deal is when they all get 18+ in the same quiz, I will buy the class a cake.

We’ve focussed on three things:
Modelling
Questioning
Checking for understanding

This week, we’ve looked at using a hinge question.

Having a consistent, easy to use T&L guide has been invaluable for us. Plus, SLT roam each lesson and feed back to HoDs where they have or haven’t seen what we have worked on.

Also, make sure that it is a small thing that people can use straight away.

Staff come to our board room during their tutor groups assembly time. Roughly 10 mins input and then 10 mins to plan in to use later that day and beyond. All staff get the same session over the course of a week. :)

✅ revisit what are the key consistencies for T&L for staff.
✅ be courageous in insisting on them
✅ apply the 80% principal before moving on
