Our Telraam, the first set up in British Columbia, is up and running and counting cars, pedestrians and cyclists on 208 Street in Langley!

Telraam is great for the second case, I agree.
There's a big difference between asking someone to attend a public meeting about a transport strategy, and asking them to put a small sensor on their window and watch their own street's traffic data appear in real time. The first feels abstract. The second is immediate, personal, and ffascinating...

Leuven ran its first-ever marathon yesterday๐and our sensors were watching.
The Bornestraat data shows the runners' peak, their direction, and even the dip between the marathon and 1/2 marathon waves. A race schedule, written in sensor data.

Open data removes the information asymmetry that fuels suspicion. When the numbers are the same for everyone, the question isn't "whose side is the data on?", it's "what does the data tell us we should do next?"

Telraam's Network subscription isn't just a data tool. It's a full project management platform built specifically for local authorities running citizen-hosted sensor networks.

That's not anecdote. That's evidence.
Citizens are the hosts. Telraam is the scientist.
In Strasbourg, five sensors hosted by local families tracked every phase of a school street project.
The data confirmed: โ 84% reduction in weekday car traffic โ Near-doubling of daily cyclists โ No displacement to adjacent streets.
The EU's WeCount project โ a Horizon 2020 initiative across five cities โ used Telraam sensors as its counting backbone.
That's not a pilot. That's infrastructure-grade validation.
The accuracy is published, peer-reviewed, and independently validated.
Performance benchmarks are publicly available on GitHub. Researchers at the University of the West of England have tested it extensively.
With Telraam, citizens don't do the counting โ they do the hosting.
A Telraam S2 sensor sits in a resident's window and uses trained AI to detect and classify pedestrians, cyclists, cars, vans, buses, and heavy vehicles. 24/7. Every 15 minutes.
"Citizen data might not be reliable." We hear this a lot. And honestly? It's a fair question. ๐ค
Here's why Telraam is different โ a thread. ๐งต
A zebra crossing marks where itโs supposed to be safe to cross the street. But what if it exposed what actually makes it dangerous to do so? This #DataCrossing in A'dam does exactly that! Based on Telraam data, it reveals the real speeds of drivers on this 30km/h street. No assumptions, just data.
"Concerning street usage you can find systems such as Telraam or Flowbird to provide a granular view of parking and active transport modes."

Students used our Telraam sensor data from Roetersstraat, Amsterdam to create a statistical protest crosswalk โ cars there hit sometimes +70 km/h!

Window mounted digital traffic counter displaying counts of pedestrians, bikes, cars, and trucks.
I just got my Telraam traffic counter up and running on Fairview Avenue in Saint Paul, Minnesota USA.
What a great device!

A bridge demolished.
When Bertem closed a key road for bridge works, they didn't wait for complaints โ they monitored traffic in real time across local streets. Result: detours working, unexpected truck problems flagged, residents informed with facts.
