This is our surprised face when learning guy with decades-long career of using techno-fetishism & gamified business practices to generate revenue while downplaying the importance of the human creators & consumers who made it successful - in the gaming industries - steps in it and faceplants...again.

We've gotten some pretty geeky gifts over the years, but this is definitely up there. Ryan's brother modded a semi-working original Dark Tower with programmable lights, a meeple screen over the LCD, and put it all in an antique lantern.
So. Very. Cool.

It's wild to think that Pax Unplugged is here again. And soon too will we!
If you happen to see Dave, or Ryan with his daughter's faithful canine companion, feel free to say hello! In the meantime, we travel...

You may not think a dice chucking game about playing magic-infused Curling would be entertaining (or maybe you totally would), but with all the other big crowdfunding campaigns lately, don't ignore this @asmadigames.bsky.social title that just launched today.
Wonderfully addicting.

5 years ago today this comic came out, and for the next year or two it was deemed hyperbolic. Now it just feels prophetic.
Seems like one of those days where everyone decided to launch their crowdfunding game at the same time. Any ones specifically catch your attention?
It's been another great Indy outing seeing so many familiar faces, meeting new ones, and watching publisher and gamer alike so excited about games.
We'll keep posting pictures of the event over the next couple days. But for now, we have to get this guy home!

There's plenty of 2025 releases in store at Alley Cat Games, including the family-weight titles Timber Town and Station to Station, and 3 new tiny box games in Sept alone - such as the adorable Barbecubes here.
(Also, someone was hungry.)

I don't think people realize just HOW big the new kaiju are in @restorationgames.bsky.social upcoming Battle Monster game until it's seen in person.
Even the 3D printed prototype conveys the grand scale of the pending monster fights to come...

This little guy may be afraid of the ghosts in Red Raven Games' Above & Below: Haunted, but fear not! — this new standalone village setting is available now!

It's day 3 at Gen Con! He's still excited, but *someone* is having a hard time getting going today...

{Insert obligatory 'oh my gosh look at the massive throng of people waiting to get in the doors for 10AM - Wow! .png}
Honestly, the more impressive part is how it's gone by 10:06.

Good morning from Day 1 of Gen Con!
The morning started off a bit rainy so we found someone to warm things up for us.

Just a few hours before we roll out to hopefully see many of you at Gen Con! And we're excited to report our daughter's beloved canine companion is coming once more to keep Ryan company (and check out this year's games). If you see them, be sure to say hola to Hola!

Unfortunately only able to do Pax East one day this year, and that day is today. If that is also you, let me know!

GTG/DHM were two of the publishers who were gracious enough to work with us when we first got started all those years ago - and are wonderful people to boot.
This sucks.
Just putting it out there to all of our industry friends:
We know saying the current environment is stressful right now is an understatement, so if we can help in any way (a chat, a distraction, whatever) let us know. We've known many of you well for so many years, and so it's personal to us too.
Nothing like waking up and realizing that the people making your favorite and primary hobby will be financially kneecapped for no legitimate reason whatsoever.
Cool.
Hey folks! We'll both be at the #GraniteGameSummit over the next few days. If you're a fellow G2S attendee, come say hi and maybe play a game!
Historically, I haven't done much in the realm of solo gaming, but decided to wade in a little more today with the CYOA style card game FateFlip: Washed Ashore by #alleycatgames & #redcatgames.
Not a difficulty thing at all - but I may have a new record how for fast I've died in a game. ☠️
Oh Gen Con Housing Day. How I never miss your experience, ever.
Probably just on account of being a prototype. The final ones are quite flat and supported by the trays. Plus with the amount that sits on top of them I can't see how major curling would occur after the fact.
Overall, at first glance Galactic Cruise looks amazing inside and out. @kinsonkeygames.bsky.social ticked every box on how to do a game right, inaugural or otherwise. Excellent job really.
Now we just have to play it!
Also, this flavor gag may be a personal favorite - for anyone who has ever worked with 'official' documents.
Normally you don't get a professional-looking rulebook on an inaugural publishing design, especially without hiring an outside editor, Kinson did a great job by doing the lion's share themselves. Commendable.
So, how does this 48 page rulebook spread do? At first glance, stellar.
Non-cluttered pages? Check.
Well delineated sections? Check.
Lots of examples? Check.
Reminder tooltips? Check.
Quirky flavor boxes? Check.
It's impressive.
Lastly, the rulebook itself. It doesn't matter how beautiful a game is or how spectacular it's put together - a bad rulebook can sink a game before it even blasts off.
The Company Records book is the smaller of the two. It serves a dual purpose.
First it acts as an addendum for rules variants, solo mode, goal tiles, etc.
Second is entire sections devoted to in-game flavor.
