📣 Hot off the press at #ProcB!
🔍 Our study checked data/code-sharing policies in 275 eco/evo journals and compliance in Proc B (n=2,340) & Ecology Letters (n=571). Policies exist, but clarity and strictness vary, affecting reproducibility.

Excited to be kicking off our symposium on improving research quality & impact with a plenary by Tracey Weissgerber. We have also been lucky with the weather!
Interesting thoughts exchanged at this morning #metascience2025 keynote panel & also nice to be at such a child friendly event! Really appreciated
How come I’ve discovered this only now?!

We've shared our results already (bsky.app/profile/asan...), so we won't bother you again.

That was quick! 🙌 Excited to share that @peercommunityin.bsky.social Ecology just recommended our #preprint! 🥳

It took me 10x longer than preparing a plenary talk, but it was also 10x more rewarding.
Talking about #birds to 4-7yo was so much fun. Apparat from hugs I’ve got a beautiful portfolio of their drawings. Love them all, but the one titled: ‘Lights, cakes, and Nina’s mum’ gave me the most laughs.

Plot showing the publication year of the different publication types (meta-analyses, reviews, and other articles) and their median citations as of November 2024.
I knew that meta-analyses were highly cited in psychology, but I didn't know that they were cited that much—about 5-6 times more than empirical articles!
I collected some citation data from the past 20 years and wrote a short blog post: sandovallentisco.github.io/posts/2025/0...

To be, or not to be, part-time in academia?
This is a tricky question that has faced many of us and in @elife.bsky.social we discuss the benefits and challenges of being part-time. With @emiliapsantos.bsky.social and a fantastic, interdisciplinary team!

Who does not give up when the feeder runs out of the seeds? They’ve found a little solution 🧡
Are you coming for the #metascience2025 in London? Would you be interested to join a panel on research waste (the concept, its components, ways to estimate it)? We are looking for an interdisciplinary panel. DM if interested.
An exciting opportunity to fund your replication study!
Open Science NL offers funding for replication studies across all disciplines. Apply by 6 March 2025, with budgets of up to €200,000. More at www.openscience.nl/en/calls/rep...
Eye opening talk by @tatsuya-amano.bsky.social on different aspects of language bias in science at #ASABWinter2024 also great advice on how to make conferences less language biased. And if I missed some ‘the’, I’m sure you still understand what I wanted to say :)
In 2020, we showed that studies published in ecological journals WITH a code-sharing policy showed a 21% reproducibility potential at max (Culina et al 2020, @plosbiology.bsky.social)
We've now investigated journals WITHOUT a code-sharing policy. The results are worrying.
