Thank you. The Short-Eared and the Little Owl are day hunters. The Barn Owl can be seen early morning or afternoon. The Tawny is nocturnal, I just got lucky with him. Our least seen Owl is the Long Eared and much harder to photograph.

Fading light in the grey drizzly rain and the male Hen Harrier sneaks past #birds #ukwildlife #Northumberland

I was told today a second male hen harrier has arrived so hopefully he has a mate too and they both successfully breed. This site is 15 minutes from the house so very lucky to have it near.

We have a lovely pair here on the reclaimed land from the old open-cast site. The whole area has been rewilded and is a huge success with the hen harriers, marsh harriers, short-eared owls and lots of buzzards and kestrels about.

Our local wildlife rescue team do an amazing job with many success stories, but sadly not this time.

Definitely tougher than Barney 😊The crows are giving them a wide birth too, picking on the poor Hen Harriers instead 😞
