Enjoyed a thoughtful discussion with colleagues at our monthly journal club this week, about the results presented in this paper by Walck-Shannon et al on student study habits. I love speculating on how closely self-reported study habits match actual study habits... #ITeachChem #STEMEd

I sometimes think about the assumptions made that lead to questions not being asked. Opportunities not being offered...
It was really tasty! I thinking toasting the walnuts first really helped the flavour. Also - still working out UK/US flour differences so I did use bread flour.

Saw this and thought of the #ChemSky #GardenIndicators crowd ☺️🧪
I’m currently thinking about informal / verbal peer feedback in this context but not implemented yet.
Close up of a batch of cinnamon-roll-like buns but with visible mincemeat / dried fruit in the rolls.
Cinnamon rolls but with mincemeat? Yup. Shame I picked such a cold day to try as it took three times as long to prove as usual... #ChemistsWhoCook

My sense (having read about UDL, made some small steps in my own practice, and been part of discussions with peers across a number of disciplines and institutions) is that it’s a long and bumpy road, but nonetheless worth the effort.
Thanks for this. And yes - a thoughtful pedagogical response (as opposed to relying on structural, economic, diagnostic, legal responses) is such an important part of the picture here.

Speaking selfishly as someone who often looks to accessible articles on developments in this area for teaching case studies… 👍
Thanks for the thread ☺️
Sitting in the last session of #ELRIGDD25 and reflecting on what I’ve seen regarding AI in the past 2 days. And how that compares / contrasts with narratives about the same technology in academia in the past year or so. No hot takes. Am convinced it’s transformational. And so complex. #ITeachChem
Meanwhile, to her mother’s delight and bemusement, the child decided she’d rather do optional maths homework than watch a film on Friday evening… 🧮🥰
This article is focused at primary/secondary education and has some great tips about observation that are widely applicable. And so interesting to see the images of universal indicator scales adjusted for differences in colour perception. #ITeachChem #ChemEd
