some random bits of a dinosaur skeleton pushed into some milliput to create some kind of fossil-in-matrix as part of the Tatooine-scene.

with the milliput cured, I've modelled around the skeleton with car body filler to embed it more convicncingly into the rock-face.

- gonna leave it there for now I think and get me dinner, but not before sneaking in a Somesortosaurus as a nod to Episode IV, or whatevs.

the no-longer-Naboo scene now stripped of all additional bits and pieces, also given another going-over to get rid of any leftover green flocking or anything else preventing it from achieving Tatooine-ity; the whole half-side of the model has been brushed over with a grey primer.

the finished-detail rock-arches glued into their respective positions, also primed now, and waiting to be modelled into the main body of the landscape.

the first bits of building-in on the upper parts of two of the arches, filler being used to blend everything together in hopefully natural-looking rock-forms.

brushed on a bit of primer to start unifying things, and then started sculpting things into shape with the filler to hopefully bring it all together in a reasonably natural-looking manner...

foam rock-arches after being carved to shape and covered in masking-tape, then also taped into place to allow for test-fitting both of themselves and the various building-props already made.

the same view of things but with the arches now partly detailed in filler and looking decidedly less like bits of taped-up foam.

just around the corner from the previous two photos, this is the third of the intended rock-arches still in foam and tape form, along with the piece intended to cover the smaller pool as mentioned before, and another bit of aped foam that might become a random rock, if needed.

shaping and taping the arch-bridge bits, and testing the placement of the odds-n-sods of pods 'n such; I've definitely mixed up the order of photos somehow hereabouts, as you can see the pool-covers haven't been built in at this point - but ne' mind.

the intended tatooine-side of the scene with the new arrangement of toy vehicles on it - some have simply been moved around from the other side of the model (not simply at all if we're honest), while others are entirely new toys. I think this is actually before I built in the pool cover-ups, but anyway; the rest of the Naboo scene has meanwhile been mostly stripped of the green flocking etc. that made it otherwise a fairly lush-looking landscape, as it moves towards becoming more desert-ed.

the same arrangement of toys etc. but with the dome placed over it all, to make sure that the new scene and all within it it, will still fit into the available space.

the first hints of tatooine-ification of the scene; with tghe toy-arrangement much as it was in the previous photos, I'm now putting in some vaguely-shaped foam pieces that will come to be rocky arch-bridge things once detailed and built into the scene.

at about this point it's time to start figuring out the fitting-on of the intended set of vehicles, as well as some other additions to the landscape that'll hopefully make it look a bit more tatooine-ish:

another smaller and less sacred puddle-plot somewhere just close by, sited at the base of the existing strata of the landscape. Strange sharpie-markings are evident in several places around the rest of the depicted scene, the worth (or lack) of which may become evident later.

a new piece of strata, of the usual foam/tape/filler format, fitted more or less into the space occupied by the pool - obscuring some of the weird sharpie-markings, though those particular ones were only to give a temporary notion of where one of the pod-buildings might be sited.

the same additional strata-piece now modelled into place, some extra filling-in around it helping to blend it convincingly (I hope!) into the rest of the scene.

- likewise layering over another little water-feature just 'round the corner; this is gonna be the rather more desert-y landscape of tatooine, after all, and the green-and-blue of Naboo no longer:

where a sacred pool used to be (and still is, to a point), I'm now taping over the rifts left by ripped-out dragon-columns...

...and then blocking out the whole area with some new foam/tape/filler-made strata-layers that cover up where the pool was, as well as some of the ruination of the previous version of the scene.

a further-back view of the scene with the strata-layers now fully built in to the existing landscape; a paintjob will hopefully make everything look to be a whole scene rather than a massive mess of bodge.

meanwhile, where wreckage has been wrought upon the sacred pool, I'm putting in some new decking, sort of:

a basic polystyrene pod-house in the process of being covered in masking-tape; it is essentially a sort of hemisphere shape with a short wall attached and a curved-arch doorway.

the same greenstuff-stick tube after masking and modelling-up in filler, with several pieces of Fenris Games scenic castings, slightly adjusted to fit, as well as one or two bits of lego sneaked into the structure, the whole thing now taking shape as some sort of silo.

a small selection of buildings and structures made for the model - the silo and the first pictured building are here, along with a couple of additional pod-structures besides; all of them have some part or other of their detail facilitated by Fenris Games scenic castings.

So, next up, figured I'd need a pod-house or two, so time to muck about with more polystyrene, masking tape, and body-filler, plus a few bits 'n pieces from the @fenrisgames.com range of scenic castings :

...I should perhaps/probably say, they're not actual chocolate, just painted in the very specific colours of Cadbury's milk and white varieties - mere modelmaking malarkey :)

- they did all get pupils eventually, don't worry; anyway, all part of a weird display of several scenes, suchly:

a bunch of slightly spooky-looking blank-eyed chocolate-egg-people, sitting in little cartoonish cars also meant to be made of chocolate; the cars are in fact only half-cars, cut through from front to back, as they are to be part of a wall-mounted display that will only be showcasing one side of things. The eggfolk have somewhat more of a three-quarter view aspect to them, though they are still flat-backed to facilitate wall-mounting.

a fair time too to chuck out these little oddoes maybe, made for like the second or third round of Cadbury World creations, and like many things made much longer ago than I realise or care to remember...

The dwarf is otherwise equipped with a belt at his waist that holds a number of chisels necessary to his work.

another image based in Wyrdworld lore, this one an egg-shaped cutout showing the face of the goddess Uurtha - otherwise Mother, Mother Uurth. and other things besides; she is depicted with green skin, green eyes, and green hair tinted here and there with red. Obscuring her face though is a representation of the god-rabbit Foster, or Fosster (and other etceteras), posed in a meditative-looking stance, his hands help up before him towards or around a second egg, this one a glowing point at the centre of the entire image.

There's so much more to be done with these minis, and they are just the first of many. It's been later than expected, same as everything so far this year (How is it mid-March already) but they are going to rock socks at Salute. And even this Saturday at Chillcon, where Four Score Woodwork will have a very limited amount on their stand! The follow up KS is being worked on too with some incredibly cool women....and men! Sacre Bleu! Thanks to Alan Marsh for sculpting these, and John Morris, Tesseract Painting Studios and BerlinTuesday Studios for painting them. Everybody's favourite red-headed librarian, Slightly Fox, hair up in a huge bouffant style, wearing a sleeveless black and white minidress with black fishnets and shiny white kinky boots. I've probably bullseye'd someone's kink with this one... oh, well, as long as they keep it to themselves. She's stood in front of a layered black and white polka dot pattern, with text 'The Library' and '1963' printed in white with black drop shadows. It's like a variant comic cover or something...

If I'd have used a different time period, I could have been drawing Slightly in slinky 60s outfits instead of that bloody leather jacket...

Anyway, here's an idea that wouldn't go away.
