Delightful lunch today with youngest daughter at Beza's (Ethiopian) in Elephant followed by a bus down to my first ever LDN manor SE5 for a pint at The Grove Tavern & another at The Phoenix, passing a resident Jenny Agutter on the way 🙏🏻
'What are days for?
Days are where we live'
A mass of cherry blossom. Collections of pink pom-poms. Some new leaves, still brownish in places. Bits of blue sky in between the froth.
The cherry tree has done its annual explosion and as usual I am surprised and amazed. Pink froth, pink snow
We lived in Ghana in the early 60s, and my Dad took lots of cine film. Mostly buildings & military parades, but I've discovered a few rare family clips.
Looks like we had a dog, and from this short clip I suspect I loved the dog more than the dog loved me.
Voluminous yellow dress made by my mum!
Goodness me, that’s precious; what a thing to have found
Lovely quote from #Satie himself in the final, diary section of Ian Penman's remarkable 'Erik Satie: Three Piece Suite' which I've just finished reading: "When will people get out of the habit of explaining everything?" 💙📚
Technically, Allium Paradoxum, or Few-Flowered Leek, growing plentifully amongst - and occasionally out-competing - the bluebells in the woodland area of Kew Gardens today
Wild garlic a go-go in #KewGardens 💚
Sun's off, East London
Pic shows 8 tulips if full bloom, together with their leaves. The red and orange tulips are Slawa, the deep red Ronaldo and the very dark purple are Queen of Night.
It’s that time again.
The Ronco model from the rear sleeve of ‘Street Level’ (1980) is dressed how Ronco thinks ‘punks’ look: plastic top & jacket, teased out blonde hair, wrap around translucent shades. It’s very, er, 1980 to be fair

A black and white photo of a man sat on the edge of a curved wall looking over Elton Reservoir. A thick blanket of fog covering the water obscuring the view. All that can be seen is the curved pathway and wall

Yes, of course I've washed it!

"The camera gives you its total, undivided attention; it doesn’t judge, it’s just there, quiet and steady, to observe, absorb, and to listen."
…is exactly the kind of thing I’m talking about

What did they think he’d look like?
View of rolling green fields in the Devon countryside going into the distance. Dandelions growing in the foreground.
Quiet skies and rolling fields 🌼🌿

Another album that *flows* #NowPlaying #RaveOnJohnDonne #VanMorrison
(If I could retire on £2)
Could probably retire on the £££s I’d get from flogging it to East LDN types
I have the cassette of ‘Face Value’ somewhere
Ha! First commenter me!
Was saying to Mrs H earlier how much I love albums that *flow* and this is one.
It is that exact post that I remember and why I ref’d you here 🙏🏻
(Thanks be to eldest daughter who sourced this mint copy for my Christmas prezzie; I of course still despise ‘Another Day In Paradise’.Terms & Conditions always apply, right readers? Kyuuk Kyuuk)
The cover of the Phil Collins album ‘Face Value’ (1981) held over the LP playing
Saw someone on here describe him as a See You Next Tuesday this week; way harsh, Tye. I’m with @londonlee.bsky.social and everyone else who’s flicked the Vs at the Stalinist approach to cool/not cool we all grew up with (and which our kids appear to be mercifully free of); this is a v. good record ✔️
