This funding will help local organizations hire young people, create hands-on opportunities, and equip the next generation with the skills and experience they need for the future.
By investing in youth, we are also investing a stronger Oakville West.

Great news for Oakville West!
Our government is investing $1,595,017 through Canada Summer Jobs to support youth employment in our community.
Canadians deserve both safety and privacy, and Bill C-22 is about protecting both.

Lawful access does not mean access to private information. It means giving law enforcement the modern tools they need, through legal and accountable processes that are compliant with the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, to investigate serious crime in a digital world.
It was lovely to tour the Saturday seniors and family groups, connect with community members, and catch up with so many familiar faces.
Thank you for the warm welcome and for all that you do to build such a strong, caring community here in Oakville.

A beautiful way to carry the spirit of Orthodox Easter forward.
Today, I had the pleasure of visiting Oakville’s own St Peter and St Paul’s Church and spending time with its wonderful seniors and church community.
This bill is about balance, giving police the tools they need to protect communities while keeping strong privacy safeguards in place. Canadians deserve both safety and rights protected, and that is exactly the work we are focused on.

Public safety cannot wait.
In the House of Commons, I challenged the opposition’s mixed messaging on Bill C-22. Law enforcement has been clear: modern tools are needed to keep pace with modern crime, and lawful access does not mean open access to Canadians’ private information.
In just a few hours, these collective efforts helped protect our parks and green spaces that so many of us enjoy. Thank you to everyone giving their time to make our community cleaner, greener, and stronger.

Today, it was my honour to join the Oakville Peace Centre at Coronation Park for one of the many community cleanup locations across our town. Alongside volunteers, we rolled up our sleeves, put on our gloves, and got to work.
Earth Day is almost here, and our community is already leading by example in keeping Oakville clean and beautiful.
We can keep Canadians safe and protect privacy at the same time.

The answer is clear: this bill is not about expanding police powers. It is about modernizing outdated processes so law enforcement and national security agencies can act at the speed of the 21st century, while maintaining the safeguards and oversight that protect Canadians’ rights and freedoms.
Public safety and privacy must go hand in hand.
In the House, I rose to ask how Bill C-22 protects Canadians’ privacy while giving law enforcement the modern tools they need to investigate crime in today’s digital world.
At a time when democracy and fairness are being challenged around the world, we celebrate this cornerstone of our country and reaffirm our commitment to protecting the rights and freedoms of everyone in Canada.

Happy 44th birthday to the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
For 44 years, the Charter has helped protect the freedoms that define Canada, from freedom of expression and religion to equality before the law and official language rights.
As we move this work forward, we will continue staying in close contact with law enforcement.

These conversations matter. Hearing firsthand feedback from those on the front lines helps us better understand what is working, what more is needed, and how we can continue strengthening the tools that help combat crime and keep Canadians safe.
Public safety starts with listening.
Today, it was a pleasure to join fellow Halton MP’s Kristina Tesser Derksen and Adam van Koeverden at Halton Regional Police to hear directly from Chief Tanner and his deputies about the new public safety legislation our government has brought forward.
This week in Ottawa, it was my pleasure to join Coding for Veterans, an informative session to helpi veterans, serving members, and their families build new skills in technology, cybersecurity, and software development.

The digital world is rapidly evolving creating new career opportunities for Canadian veterans.
Canadians deserve a justice system that is equipped for the challenges of today, not the past.

As criminals continue to exploit evolving technologies, law enforcement must have the lawful tools needed to respond effectively, protect communities, and bring offenders to justice.
We are closing the gap between technology and public safety.
In the House, I raised the urgent need for our laws to keep pace with the realities of digital crime.
Strengthening ties and building bridges.
It was a pleasure to join Members of Parliament, Senators, Ambassador Can Dizdar, and the executive of the Canada-Türkiye Friendship Group for its Annual General Meeting as we discussed the strong and growing bilateral relationship between Canada and Türkiye.
This legislation reflects our commitment to delivering meaningful change, and I am proud to support the work underway as we move this bill forward for Canadians.

Keeping Oakville West and Canadians safe remains a key focus,
Today in the House of Commons, the Hon. Gary Anandasangaree spoke to the important work being done on Bill C-22 including the consultations that have taken place with our very own Halton Police.
From nation-building projects to regional growth, these discussions are essential to ensuring voices from across the country are heard and reflected as we build a more connected and resilient Canada.

Big conversations build a stronger Canada.
It was a pleasure to join Premier Wab Kinew and the Manitoba business delegation in Ottawa for an evening focused on partnership, progress, and economic opportunity.
Creating safer, kinder communities means working not only for our youth, but with them. Together, we can build a future rooted in mutual respect, and care.
