It was a real pleasure working on this project led by @kristinawk.bsky.social This co-designed framework provides a clear and practical structure for thinking about quality of perioperative care.
A few months ago, we shared the perioperative quality framework. Today, we’re excited to share our new publication detailing the methods behind it, developed with an outstanding group of collaborators. Read the full paper here: ths.im/4bxxpNU

Nearly 10m people have surgery in the UK yearly & need good perioperative care. Our rapid evidence review & participatory exercise highlighted 10 key areas. We worked with patients, carers, clinicians & managers to develop a quality framework.

It's now 20 years since we came up with the candidacy framework for explaining access to healthcare. Now, our scoping review shows how candidacy has been used in research on access to general practice. It seems to be useful and actionable - good news! journals.sagepub.com/doi/epub/10....?
How do we get better dental data? A huge opportunity for the UK! Our editorial in @bmj.com
We discuss the challenges and the opportunities to address the dental crisis with actionable data.

Delighted to share our work alongside dedicated collaborators. This reflects the views of patients, carers and clinicians. Thank you to all who contributed.
This week on BBC Radio’s Healthcheck, I shared thoughts on new research showing that oral healthcare before surgery can cut hospital stay & lower pneumonia risk. Should oral healthcare be part of standard pre-op care? 🎧 www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...

There has been a lot of debate recently about the promise of real world data - the routine (observational) data collected on patients eg treatments received, clinical outcomes etc – for estimating treatment effects. But can they deliver? 1/9

Encouraging findings for real ways to support underserved groups. I hope there will be more work around the quality of the records shared - making them more accessible.
Access to general practice is a subject that’s often in the news. Here’s how THIS Institute is working to tackle the issue through our innovative research programme.

Alongside tech, the 10-Year Health Plan sees Labour betting big on establishing a ‘neighbourhood health service’ to reduce costs and improve care.
In this blog, @jaketreenotsea.bsky.social and @luisaptg.bsky.social ask how will it happen, and will it work?

We welcome publication of the new 10-year health plan. We're here to build evidence in line with the plan through projects like:
• Evaluating ambient voice technology and launching a new online community
• Supporting design and planning of large-scale change programmes

Writing for @bmj.com @hughalderwick.bsky.social says broad ambitions in the 10-Year Health Plan are right but have appeared in a long line of NHS plans over decades. So what will be different this time around?

Great to start to share this work. In the context of the conference, it was nice to see how the framework and our development method could fit into ongoing research focused on evaluating different changes to care pathways to support the 10 year plan. #HSRUK25
#HSRUK Day 2: Another great plenary on the 2030 health workforce. A stark picture of the workforce challenges in underserved areas, low morale, and retention issues all deepening health inequalities. And straight into timely research discussions on tech-enabled monitoring. Great talks!
Great week at @iadr.bsky.social! General Session Barcelona. Our IADR Health Inequalities Research Network (GOHIRN) shared strong work on disparities + digital innovation to improve healthcare care. Wrapped up my GOHIRN presidency on a high with an amazing team. Most grateful.
