BEST NEWS TODAY.
Really. This is even better than VA redistricting.
I had just wrapped my 10th book, my wife's retired, we're in a nice new house with 2 good dogs, & I thought, I'm done.
Then a cartoonist I know says, hey, WE SHOULD DO A BOOK! My agent sold it, & I spent today blocking out chapter 4, because how cool is that?
But this is the LAST ONE.
Probably.
"TRUMP"
Wrote a paper about exactly this in library school. The beauty of browsing, the genius of that butt of half-smart jokes, the Dewey Decimal System.
Brilliant. Following.
It certainly won't be unless voters make it an existential issue for office-seekers.
I shame people who do that to my dog. I've never fake-pumped Pippin, and never will.
Merchandise display (at a Buc-ee's store in Virginia) with cutting boards, towels, and books, including MY book, American Whiskey Master Class!
My daughter just stopped at the @bucees.bsky.social near Winchester VA, and saw a display with my book (American Whiskey Master Class), right inside the door! Hot damn! Thanks, Buc-ee's!
Kevin Warsh just lost me. He argues he's going to be an independent Fed Chair, but refuses to acknowledge that Trump lost the 2020 election. If you can't state simple facts when you're in the political spotlight, you aren't independent. You're a coward.
An amendment would be better, because it could fix the broader problem as expressed by the SC in Bush v. Gore (2000): “The individual citizen has no federal constitutional right to vote for Electors for the President of the United States. . .”
Let's fix it. All of it.
This is the obvious answer (with the pedantic correction to "semi-automatic"), and I'm disappointed that no one else is saying it, or acknowledging it.
They will rise up against YOUR tyrannical government. This one is theirs, so it's all good.
And yet Warsh expects the Senate to believe he will act independently of the mad wishes of "the dean."
As others have said, it's not so much how stupid MAGA is that's annoying, it's how stupid they clearly think WE are.
And yet Warsh wants the Senate to believe he will act independently of the mad wishes of "the dean."
Amazed that no one has pointed out that a woman DID win "the Presidential vote" but lost in the electoral college.
"The Compact" is never going to pass the Supreme Court. Organize to amend the EC out of existence, just like we did with direct election of senators. Make this a voting issue.
Shucks. I only tell the truth!
Can highly recommend the new book from my friend @maureenogle.bsky.social - "The Price of Plenty."
Enjoyable style, deep research, AND on a fascinating topic we should all know more about. Get it!

I saw a local Republican party group doing candidate outreach and registering new voters at a flea market, and for a moment I was shocked that they were out in public, openly identifying as Republicans.
Love that scene!

I carried that "Life In Hell" clipping from the City Paper for years, dutifully pinning it to a series of cubicle panels. I think it also had conflicting love talk to spice up a relationship: "I love you, lardass."
My family quotes them at least weekly.
Thanks for that, Maureen.
Forgive me if I'm not optimistic. For instance , people complain about the unfairness of the electoral college. The only way to change it is by amendment, yet nothing serious has been done. The so-called "Compact," will almost assuredly be ruled unconstitutional, since it is a deliberate end-run.
Oof. That's what I thought; amendment. That's such a big lift.
